Default LS1 and 5.0 Mustang same firing order?

Ok, I was searching this myself but just to clear up the firing order issue:

5.0 firing order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8

BUT instead of the cylinders being number 1,3,5,7 driver side and 2,4,6,8 passenger side it starts on the passenger side 1,2,3,4 and continues front to back on the driver side 5,6,7,8

SO, if you were to renumber the cylinders like an LS1 the firing order would be: 2-6-5-4-3-1-8-7 where as the LS1 firing order is 1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3

Please explain how being that the ORDER is the same that they would be firing differently...

I am sure I am missing something just don't know quite what...

Its all about when a piston reaches tdc is the order its setup to fire.. You're talking about 2 completely different engines..

Changing springs with TDC method on a LS1:

Get #1 up, then 1 & 6, rotate 90, 8 & 5, rotate 90, 7 & 4, rotate 90, 3 & 2

Anyone know what changing springs with TDC method on a 5.0 is to compare?

I know they are different, just trying to wrap my head around it...

Basically, with the LS1 when 1 is at TDC so is 6...

What I want to know is when the 5.0 EQUIVALENT of the LS1 cylinder 1, which would be the 5 cylinder, is at TDC what other cylinder is at TDC?

If this helps here's the valve adjustment info (all I can find after an hour of searching $hitty mustang forums)...

Ford (5.0 HO, 351W, 351M, 351C, 300)No. 1 cylinder at TDC compression
Adjust exhaust valve: 1, 2, 3, 4
Adjust intake valve: 1, 5, 7, 8

No. 6 cylinder at TDC compression

Adjust exhaust valve: 5, 6, 7, 8
Adjust intake valve: 2, 3, 4, 6

So, I think for a 5.0 when cylinder 5 is up (cylinder 1 for the LS1) cylinder 4 is also up (cylinder 8 for the LS1)...

Is this correct?

The LS1 and 5.0HO (351 etc) are the same as is another OLD GM motor (Cadillac). The GM(caddy/LS) and the ford firing order are all the rage now in racing motors. Most GM/chrysler, some ford (numbered different) use the old stand by 18436572. The LS/caddy/ford style is supposed to be better on the bottom end and make a little more power. 7-4 swaps are popular as well but that is only part of the change.

Mark, you posted that the 5.0L Ford and LS1 have identical firing orders, you just started at different cylinders. They are the same.

5.0L = 1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3 (move cylinder #1 to the front)
LS1 = 1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3
