Default LM7 with LS6 heads

I've searched trying to find what CC will get what CR. Everything I can find is for LS1 LS6, is there any difference from putting a 62cc head on a LS1 vs putting that same head on a LM7 ?

I was trying to stay under 11.1, I was going to get the cam and do a PTV check to see how far I can go. The cam is 232/234, .595"/.598" on a 112
Is milling .007 = to 1 CC from the head ?

No, it will not be the same compression as an LS1 because of the smaller displacement. I think the LS6 heads will drop slightly more than 1cc per .007 due to the difference in chamber design. You will be well under 11:1 and hard pressed to get there with a 5.3. Bolting on the LS6's w/o milling and stock gaskets will net you 9.2:1. Milling the heads to 58cc's and using 0.040 gaskets will net 10.2:1. The combination of small displacement and 7cc dished pistons makes it hard to get the compression up high enough to run that large of a cam. If it's in that rock buggy in your sig it will probably be fine, but be ready for very crappy idle and a loss of bottom end power.

Hmm 10.2 is not a lot, might have to go a smaller. That's already a tiny cam lol How far can you mill the heads? .028-.032 ? (if PTV clearance is good) I got a pretty good deal on the 5.3 it was hard to pass up. The buggy should be less than 3,000 lbs it won't need a huge amount of bottom end. It will have 5.13 gears and a 3000 stall.

I wouldn't mill the heads more than .040. Yes PTV clearance will be an issue with that cam if you mill the heads and run the thin gasket. That cam is not very tiny in a 5.3, actually it's more like a TRex. Really anything over a 228 is gonna start killing more low to midrange than it's making up for up top. Do some reading on the performance trucks site and see what gives the best results. My recommendation is the TR220.

Any idea what kind of hp / tq numbers you could get out of a LM7 with a '03 LS6 top end, heads, cam and intake??

I have an '03 Z06 that I want to put an AFR top end on, and I could take old parts and put them on the LM7 for my CJ7 crawler

Just think of the money I would be "saving"
