a cheap imitation of a cam that's old technology and never produced good numbers to begin with.

considering the time and energy it takes to swap a cam, why would you chance it with a cheap knock off?

Also, bear in mind that a re-grind reduces the base circle of the cam, which is not bad in of itself, but will cause pushrod length problems if it's not checked. Add the price of a custom set of pushrods and you're right back to what a reputable cam from one of our sponsors would run ya!

To my understanding all aftermarket camshafts have about .020 smaller base circles than a stock camshaft as far as ls1's go. I know my patriot 226 camshaft was .020 smaller on the basecircle.

I would definately go with a proven camshaft. You'll wish you did later on instead of settling for something and saving a couple bucks.

you could. however with that extra lift etc comes more strain on the pushrods. stock pushrods are pretty weak and you risk, actually youre almost guaranteed to bend one and just have to replace it anyways.

i would suggest NOT trying to save money on a cam/spring/push rod setup in these cars cuz if you do and something messes up, youre gonna be spending ALOT more money just to repair it.

I believe stock pr length is 7.38.. so an aftermarket 7.4 pushrod should be perfect.

You seem to be dead set on saving money and cutting corners. Do yourself a favor... don't buy until you're ready to spend the money to do it the right way. If you buy some cheap cam and try to use stock pushrods, then you're just asking for trouble. And, that trouble is going to FAR FAR outweigh the possible savings that you're so keen on getting for yourself.
