I have been told by a machinist that royal purple while doing an excellent job protecting everything else has a tendency to wear out lifters premature... I dont know if there is any truth to this but it is what i have been told.... I have run royal purple since i got the car and have changed the oil every 3000 miles using pure one oil filter....(very good filter for you cammed folk) one of my lifters went out at 80000 miles... I do hot rod the car a lot so not sure if its due to my foot the oil or both but your guess is as good as mine...

I have heard simlair stories that it is due to the oil going from the top of the motor to the bottom of the pan slower cause of a thicker mixture they use that is more syrup-ey. and oil is generated around the motor quickly enough, I dunno thats just what my wyo tech professor has told me....

yep, I used rp 5w30. I got a killer deal on it at autozone one day, for some reason the local autozone was getting rid of stock and I was the first one to learn about it. I got about 20 or so quarts for $1 each so I stocked up.
