Exclamation All kinds of problems

My car has been giving me some wierd problems and I need help badly diagnosing it. I should start by saying that the SES light is on due to a bad knock sensor harness (that I plan on fixing in the next couple days when I get my new intake). The low oil warning light also stays on thanks to my buddy breaking the wires off the sensor when he was "helping" me. So here's the problem: 9 times out of ten when the car is running WOT it will skip out, usually once or twice quickly, but keeps running. The SES light and low oil warning light will both turn off, which I think is very strange. Afterwards the car will not idle and runs very rough, usually with some surging and bucking at low rpm. If I shut the car off and pull the key out, then restart the car, it will usually idle and run fine but sometimes I have to shut it off and start it more than once. The SES and low oil lights stay off for a while, but they eventually turn back on. I should also mention that it will do the same thing periodically under normal driving conditions, but it does it almost every time under heavy throttle which is why I mentioned that to begin with. So wtf is going on with it? Is there a problem with my PCM? BTW the car is a '00 SS.

You got to fix the KS problem. It puts the car in limp mode with a constant 4 degrees of KR. And you're running the car at WOT like that?

MTI Racing in Marietta told me it was fine when they tuned the car, they just told me that the harness was probably not connected to the sensors good or that the harness was bad and the car was fine to drive. Could it be the crank position sensor?

If your friend broke any part of the oil pressure sending unit it will need to be replaced, buy the unit and the opsu socket I think 1 1/16''. Do not romp on a poorly running car your asking for it. Also get some maf cleaner doubt it's the problem but cant hurt, cars with dirty maf's will run rough at low end. Last get someone to hook your car up to a computer and have them read you the codes so you know exactly what the car is trying to tell you.

Are your battery cables connected tight? Often times loose cables will do exactly what you said, could also be a bad ground somewhere. Start with the free stuff first when diagnosing a problem.

Thanks for the input guys, I found that one of the grounds on the back of the head was barely hangin on so hopefully that was the problem.

if you have a delco battery still they have a problem with corroding behind the posotive terminal and causing intermittent problems like this. you will know real fast if this is the problem because when you go to take out the posotive cable the post comes out with it. this or bad ground
