im getting my engine rebuilt. it goes in the shop today. im doin some last minute questioning on my choice of a t-rex cam cuz ive been doing a lot of research on here. first of all, here is what im doin:
PRC Stage 1 LS6 Heads With PRC Dual Springs (Already Bought)
Cam
LS7 Lifters
LS2 Lifter Trays
LS6 Oil Pump
LS2 Timing Chain
Diamond/Mahle Pistons
ARP Rod Bolts
i think thats about it. i may be missing some minor stuff. my other mods are in my sig. reason for build is a spun bearing, so we r turning the crank, and if we cant then i will get a new one. my car is my dd, but in a couple weeks i will have a company truck. so i will drive that everyday. so this car will turn into my weekend car. i have family in texas, arkansas, and oklahoma, so i will be taking it on trips. if i ever leave this job the car will again be my dd. so i want a cam that i wont have problems with on the street, but i want to make some big power. i do want to go with the t-rex cam, but would that be the "BEST" cam for my setup and how i want to use it. i do plan to go the strip, but i will use the car more on the street. thanks. Dan

you could probably put together a better setup with better heads and a smaller cam.
it will make similar power high, probably more power low, and be more street friendly.
but i think its too late now

go smaller...i say low 33x would do nicely.
depending on the PTV clearance....maybe the TSP torquer 3, or the futral FM14HL
off hand i don't know how those heads would fair with .64x lift

yeah, i pm'ed him the other day. he said the trex would be fine for a weekend car. he said find someone to put a mad driveability tune on it though. chuck at hpe is the one tuning. ive heard hes good. i shouldnt have to worry about ptv with the new pistons. thats the only reason im gettin new ones.

^^^about the milling. what do they need to be milled to. and what exactly is getting milled. i keep hearing this, but dont really know what exactly. and i have 4:10s in my m6 for gears.
"Milling", is having the deck of the heads shaved down.. This will raise your compression which in turn gives you a lil more power, specially down low where you'll need it with a cam that size.. You just need to make sure of your PTV clearance when having your heads milled with that cam..
MM98 summed it up.
to help with your milling quest, i would suggest getting the heads milled to 62cc's. with cometic .040 head gaskets that will give you 11:1 compression. great quench and you can run 91 all day.
