Post 04 GTO LS1 w/ Boltons-Low Dyno HP #'s

Hello; My first Time to post... I am an old pontiac guy (67'-70'); still build and run some of the 400-455 engines and love the power. I thought I would move up with the times and get a modern car/engine and start making a fun street car...
I started with an 04 Wrecked GTO w/ 6 speed and added some mods... I should have Dynoed first to see how it was stock :-(

I added:
Texas speed cam - 232/234 Dur. 596/598 lift including there springs and
push rods.
JBA Shorty headers.
JBA mid-pipe... no more cats.
The Flowmaster exhaust with cross over was already on the car.
BBK aluminum Intake (85mm) and a 85mm throttle body.
New plugs and msd wires.
Cold air intake system.
Underdrive pulley.

It ran terrible while taking it to the Dyno; The dyno guy did his magic of tuning... 362 rwhp (360 tq) was the best he could get with lots of effort; he also thought this seemed low).
The car seems to run a "little" better than stock, but I am not pleased with the results... Any deas? Thought? etc? would be greatly appreciated

Myabe some heads may free up some power. It does seem low the result. What sort of AFR is it running? Has it been given enough spark/timing?

There could be a few things holding it back. Check all the basic stuff first and see where that leads you.

That cam and the shorty headers are not playing nicely, one or the other has to go. Why did you opt for the shorties? Swapping to long tubes should give you better results. I also wouldn't have done the BBK intake, unless it is ported. Also, do not look at the numbers as fact, each dyno shows different numbers. Just use the numbers (from the same dyno) to compare to your own vehicle to evaluate the performance increase. Driveability and real world performance are what matters. And it sounds like it is not running as good.

That sucks....I made about that with long tube headers, a catback and a tune....

Thanks, I e-mailed Texas Speed were I got most the parts and they said I need to get LT headers as well... He thought That alone would help alot. I might change those out in the next week or so...
Anyone want some short tube headers ;-)

Will these shorties fit a 2002 Tran Am?

Dont' be worried. My car with the cam I currently have only made 360whp. I then added some LS6 heads and a FAST92 and gained 50hp/40tq.

The shorties aren't helping you though. Try to get some 1 7/8" longtubes from a quality place(read: Kooks).

You may be able to grab a set of 243 heads for around $500. Unported you should still see gains.

Unless those are single chamber Flowmasters you might be losing a few ponies there too.

Thats about 20 HP shy of where I thought it would be. Most likely due to the exhaust setup.

Agree w/ the others that state the shorty headers are holding you bak. The Flowmaster isn't helping either. LT's + a free-flowing catback (Magnaflow, Corsa, etc) will push the HP #'s up.
