do you think i can atleast get 400hp and 400 tq on pump gas? rwhp that is

my old 4 banger had 340rwhp and 302tq but that was from a 2.0 turbo.
400+ will be easy, its the jump to 500rwhp that gets much more expensive$$$.
With a stock bottom end, good flowing heads, large cam, LS6 intake, headers and the rest of the supporting mods, you can easily be in the low to mid 400's rwhp range.

since i opted for the expensive heads i gotta cut corners in other places. im starting to think twice on the aftermarket maf and crank pulley.

is the slp maf worth it or just run stock for the time being?

Those are small factors in the overall power equation anyway. The cam and heads are the heart and soul of the motor, start there and work your way out with compatable intake and full exhaust.

I think a LS7 clutch will work fine with your set up.

You can't really guess the horsepower withoutht any cam specs, and with those bigs. Al we and 59cc head I don't think you going to get away with one to big.

i did alil research and the heads have to be either 64cc or 68cc combustion chambers. i might end up giving the heads back to my friend i bought them from.

idk if i'll beable to run a decently sized cam(ms3 or ms4) with the big valves. the bigger combustion chambers are big and they are 6.0 heads going on a ls1.

the heads have been decked so that'll help along with a thin headgasket. think i can still pull it off?

my friend is completely confident that i can.???? idk.. idk..

valve sizes for the heads sound way to big. almost like they are Patriot Stage III heads which is overkill for a stock cubed 346. you should consider Stage II heads, (2.02"/1.57") 59cc and there are plenty of cams or go custom grind so you have no need to flycut the pistons...

screw the Ls6 intake. FAST 9x/9x would be the way to go...

i have Patriot Stage II heads, FAST 90/90 and a little Comp 224 putting down 458/410...

Why do they have to be 64cc or 68cc exactly?

thats the only ones they made in stage 3. and yes sswt00ss they are stage 3.

im really against fly cutting the pistons. idk why but i just couldnt get myself to do it.

i was gonna go with the ls6 intake for breakin and tune. then save up and get a throttle body and intake. i was thinking the 92mm big mouth and 92mm intake to go with. idk if thats what you described but it sounds good to me.

the only reason why i was going with these heads was they are available and i got a deal on them.. it was either these or stock ported ls1 heads. which i did the math and by the time i ported the stock ls1 heads got springs and put it all together i would have spent the same amount of money.

Stage III heads are made for a 4" bore. As stated above, you can't (or shouldn't) used stage III heads on a LS1 bore, IIRC you run into problems, valve shrouding issues, or the valves are too big and it hurts power. From what I have read, the biggest you can go on 3.9" bore is state 2.5.

You can pick up stock 243's for anywhere from $400-500.
I think you can send them out for porting for ~$600 for more ponies.
As far as springs, I would run PRC dual valve springs. I believe they are rated up to .660" lift.

FYI, I know a buddy selling a low miles MS4 for $275.

I'll let him know, If I had to throw out a number, maybe 430 rwhp with the updated setup, I'll ask my friend for his prediction. If it were ported 243's and a FAST 90/90, the power would be much higher, but hey, one step at a time. That will be a fine set-up you'll have there.

Everyone has to start somewhere man. JK.

I have been reading, researching, and wrenching for a while, and I still don't know as much as I'd like to. You never stop learning.
