Engine in sig cost me 7k to build 3 years ago. Stock crank ,crowler forged rods, mahle forged pistons. last trip to the dyno I ran out of fuel at 5,100 rpm and made 543rwhp/502rwtq. Installing a second fuel pump next week end and going back to the dyno in november hoping for 600+ to the wheels.

depends on the build some forged people are just h/c but some are s/c, n20 or turbo.
the stock crank is known to be very strong.
i would like to buld a 347 (would go bigger but i have a small budget) but for me it would be some great heads a big cam and a 200+ shot. over 700rwhp would be my goal

I have about $2800 in my rebuilt including the heads without the valve springs and cam basically...
All new at time of rebuilt:
Probe forged pistons...$500?
Scat H-beam rods....$450ish
stock crank turned $125
Stock LS6 heads...$425 (resued patriot dual springs)
$250 torque plate hone, $250 balance, $35 cam bearing install, all assembly done by me.
Ported oil pump $150
gaskets, bearing, seals, etc etc, plus $160 for arp head bolts.
Stuff I reused from before it blew up:
TSP 233/239 cam, $200 used
ls2 timing chain, $30
Mac midlength headers $500
LS6 intake $250
home ported throttle body
SLP lid $90
SLP pulley $200
Patriot dual springs. $230
412rwhp 392rwtq.
This was really a 7k rpm pull according to the guy that operates the dyno, the pick up was a little off
Pic of the short block
Little video clip of it in action before I got my rev limiter raised to 7k
Why it got rebuilt:
The finished product
Just figured I would share my rebuild experience.
Oh yeah, I have 28,000 miles on this setup now in a little over a year. haven't pulled a plug, change wires, valve springs or anything. Oil changes every 4k with regular oil, 91 octane gas usually, and I put a new fuel filter.
However I have broke 2 rear ends, 2 transmission mounts, 1 torque arm, and 1 clutch in the last year as well haha

Just keep in mind that forged doesn't make anymore power - it just withstands more pressure and abuse. The power comes from the cam specs, cylinder heads used, compression ratio, and overall bore/stroke.
Set a goal of what you want from your engine (street or strip or combo), then research what's available and what you can afford. Nitrous or supercharging in the future? Plan accordingly.
Also, try not cutting corners. Good machine work is well worth the money in the long run. e-Bay parts are cheap for a reason. Just use your head and take your time. Good luck.

Well what plans do you have for your car? Is it a daily driver? You could do a mild cam (224/228) and get some AFRs. Or you could get a bigger cam and go with TFS. Once you tell me your idea's and if the car is a dd I can help you out a little more.

I did a 370 with MS3 cam patriot stage 3 heads, forged diamond pistons, eagle rods, stock crank ls6 ported pump, double roll chain, On a stalled auto dyno 445 hp and ran 11.1 in the 1/4@119 with a full raceweight car w/ a 4l60e You can pick up a 6.0 block and crank for nothing and have it rebuit sell your motor. Just and idea.
