Default Cam Question. For Future. Torquer V.2 + 3400 Stall!

Hey guys just talked to Andre from Edge Converters today and will be having a 3400 2.45STR stall built within the next couple of weeks. Its a lock up. I will be doing this, and a 24GVW B&M Tranny Cooler. I am keeping my 3.23's for awhile but anyway, i will be adding a cam package from TSP. First question is, the torquer v.2, a good cam for my stall size? Its a 232/234 with .595/.598? lift. I will be doing 112 LSA if that matters. I may be doing LS6 Heads down the road or P&P my 241's. Anyway thats beside the point. What do you think? Also the package comes with chromoly push rods and 918 comp springs. Do i need a timing chain set and roller rockers? What do i need for a cam swap. Thanks guys. Sorry its so breif im in a hurry!

Definatly pick up a new pump/timing chain. Your there so why not replace it? If you stay stock heads then all you should need is some new springs to take the ramping of the new bumpstick.

In my opinion that cam is a little big for that stall, or the stall is not right for the desired cam. But first and fore most, what are you plans with the car? Fun daily driver, street strip terror, etc ...? What are your power goals (hp/tq) or performance goals (1/4 mile times)? This will help us better evaluate if that converter and cam will work better for you.

There shouldn't be a problem running that cam with that converter. For a normal street/strip car, it will be just fine. You could go bigger and you could go smaller. It just depends what exactly you are doing with the car.

On the cam, it will be fine for a car getting driven daily. Make sure you have it tuned properly and you shouldn't have much if any driveability issues. I would recommend going in and at least putting an LS2 timing chain and a ported LS6 pump. You are already doing the labor to get to that point so I would recommend doing those two while you are there. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns and I will make sure we get you fixed up as quickly as possible!

I don't think a 3400 converter would be optimal for a cam that size. But it should work pretty well for a fun street car.

Goal is over 400RWHP EVENTUALLY as a DD. Again Andre from Edge recomended this stall for my plans. I haven't decided between a 3400 or 3600.

Thinking of a stall brings more ?'s in my head. Do i drive with overdrive on or off when racing? Sounds dumb but im not sure because OD off increases RPM's. I have also read just stomping the pedal from a dead stop is best to get traction?

That stall will work fine. You will need to learn to footbrake and roll in to the throttle or all you will do is make a smokeshow if you are on street tires

I have a set of ET Streets on some older LT1 Wheels i will put on for street racing and the track. I plan on putting a new set on after winter anyway. 26X10.50X16.

Since you are doing occassional strip times, but mainly DD, then yes that converter is a good mix. Although I would say get the 3600. If it were street/strip I would suggest a 4000 for that cam. The STR is a little too tight, as it may push at idle unless it is set very low (<800 rpms), but it will be great for DD. At the track it will hit hard with ET Streets.

i think youll fine with either the 3400 or 3600 stall with that cam.

but unless you have good tires you will need to learn throttle control from slow speeds or your gonna spin spin spin
