Default Any correlation between 450rwhp and LS6 blocks?

How many people have made 445rwhp+ on an LS6 or LS1 block?

I turned 453 RWH SAE with my original LS1 block and turned 456 RWH SAE with the Z06 block, but I had a ring /piston slap issue with the original block and that was the reason for the block "upgrade?"

I hear that the ls6 block is worth more than 3 hp over the ls1, there has been a few posts about this and one has a link to a gm high tec article explaining better bay to bay breathing, why else do the 02 cars seem to dyno 15-20 hp higher than older cars, how do you explain all the 02 cars with cam only and bolt ons pulling 410-425 with stock heads

I know why, but it's not the block and all the 2002 cars didn't come with Z06 blocks, at least the ones I have done cams on here anyway and there dynoing high too.

I think the stock 01-02 heads have a little something to do with the good cam-only numbers. The block prob does help, but may show up better in something like a 382/383ci engine between the two blocks. Strokers will strain the crankcase breathing more than a stocker. Think of it like this, if there's xxx cubic inches of displacement above the pistons, then there is also the same xxx cubic inches being turbulent below the pistons also.

And why is this some kind of secret that can't be divulged? Why not just say why?

The '02's got what GM calls "massaged" heads to deal with the piston slap issue (which really didn't help anyway). That's why there's a difference in power.

Only 25% of '02's received the LS6 block.

02s got "massaged" heads? Wow, when did this info get released? Are the OEM castings changed? Do all 2003+ corvettes have these same heads? Anybody flow tested them?

i have a 01 SS M6 with the LS6 block. i havent had the chance to get it on the dyno yet, but im running a 224/224 563 112 cam . im hoping for numbers close to 400 because the car is very strong. i have read that 10% of 01's had this block and it does seem to be some better hp numbers out of them for some reason .

When did GM start sending out LS6 intake manifolds as a stock item?I would think the combo of LS6 block and manifold has to worth something be it stock or cam only.

in 01.. that was the first year for the LS6 intake. all f-body's had the LS6 intake, just a lucky few got the block.

Just to compare I have an LS6 block. Good friend of mine has a 2002 with the LS1 block. His car pulled 410rwhp cam only with headers. My car pulled 403rwhp with a similar cam and headers. I honestly don't think there is one bit of difference power wise. His M6 was running 12.4s with just headers and a lid FWIW.
