What Heads and Cam
Trending Topics
For what you are looking at, I personally would do a set of ls6 heads (either from TSP, TEA, or even stock w/ port work) + associated valvetrain upgrades to accomodate cam, then look for a cam that will suit your own needs. Everyone on here has different attributes that they like/dislike when it comes to cars so everyones opinions aren't really going to help you on cam selection. Decide for yourself where you want the powerband to be, what rpm range you want peak hp and peak tq to be at, whether or not you want it audibly noticeable, and what you honestly plan to do with the car (being all motor, boosted, sprayed, etc). Take these answers and then speak with one of the sponsors that has a wide cam selection or does custom grinds and see what they can recommend you, sometimes an off-the-shelf cam won't exactly provide the characteristics you are aiming for. Also if you see an off-the-shelf that you are interested in, search on here or the other forums for dynographs of the cam so you can see the type of hp/tq curve it makes, when it makes most of its power, whether or not the cam falls off after a certain rpm (i.e. cam peaks horsepower at 5800 rpm and holds near peak for the rest of the pull or nose dives), etc. Doing so can allow you to see the characteristics of the cam and what type of manners it will have in your own vehicle, also don't just focus on peak hp/tq numbers, focus on the graph and how it makes power, peak numbers on a dyno can be drastically differing from your own due to the many variables of the dyno and other modifications that have been done.
