TEA heads dyno 403 on a LT1 A4
A good friends car and a member of our fbody club just got his 96TA A4 dynoed. Car has about full bolt ons and a 3500stall. The cam is a comp cams XE 230in/236ex @.50, .544in/.555exh lift on a 112 lobe sep. The off the shelf cam The heads were milled .20 and its about 11:1CR from what Brent told him.
but anyway she dynoed 403.7hp to the rear wheels through SLP shortie headers... Just wanted to post that a LT1 was pullin over 400hp with a stall and TEA stage 2 heads on his LT1
I dont have a graph but he may... its not BS and im not trying to start crap. Just showing that TEA does make a good product even though some cars have dynoed a little low on them. Every head has low dynoing cars, but every head also has HIGH dynoing heads
props to TEA

SLP shorties, A4? I guess TEA discovered some incredible new method of porting on these heads. I've never heard of numbers even close to that with similar setups. I would expected 370 or so.

Im pissed my Little Hot cammed 409 LT4 Stroker only makes 380 RWHP and 410 RWTQ on motor. But hit the switch and shes well over 500 RWHP!.
Thoose numbers seem very high for a heads and cam LT1. Amazing when you consider that hes still running LT1 Heads.

That's beacuse you have a hot cam in a 409 stroker. You need something MUCH racier to make good power w/ a stroker motor. You could go w/ a 306 and still be leaving a lot left untold w/ the power numbers. Remember, more motor needs more cam!

A buddy just put down 411 with LT1 heads and custom cam and the tuning is not done yet, it is cutting out at 6300 like either an ignition problem or fueling.
I think what has happened is the supercharger was the quickest way to get some high HP numbers out of the LT` and that is the way every one went and then the LS1 came out and was up alot of power in just stock form. THen finally LT1 owners realized weight sucks and started pulling it off the cars. There are some stock BO LT1s starting to run in the lower 12s and should be able to get into the 11s with the right air and weight...
It all boils down to what you want out of that particular car....

I know Chris Jones from Va is running 11.1-2's with H/C and i believe he has a stock bottom end? Dont quote me cause im not up to par with LT1 stuff
like I said, this post wasnt made to brag or anything. Just showing that the heads are good for the buck
I gave the guy the link so maybe he will post up later on today with more info for everyone
alot of the power is in the cam choice with the heads

I owned 3 LT1 cars. Loved em, people forget how big of an impact the LT1 had on us 20-30 year olds. The Fbody took over again. I remember when the local dealership got there first 93 Z28. I was in love!! Good to see the old LT1 is pumping out the horseys. Nice heads

Hello guys. first time on here. HD told me to tell you guys a little about my car.
In addition to what he said above, i would like to say that Brent from TEA gave my heads some extra attention. He has a stroker LT1 himself, and he worked them once they cam off the cnc as i was disapointed w\ the first set. I had them independently flowed. I have to say Brent did an excellent job. And i hope everyone doesn`t think that high lift numbers are what make power. Mid lift numbers are more critical than the high lift in my opinion.
My flow numbers are
.100=68.3intake 54.6exhaust
.200=138.1------114.9
.300=197.6------165.8
.400=235.2-------197.8
.500=262.3-------219.6
.550=264.7-------227.3
.600=266.5-------235.7
Velocity is just as important on a NA car as flow numbers.
As far as bolt-ons go I have a 52mm TB, port matched intake, slp 94-95 style shortie headers 1.75 primes, no cats, magnaflow catback,elec wp, underdrive pulley`s, SY3500 yank converter, a few susp items, no emmissions, Ed Wright tuning. ect...
30 minutes before i dynoed mine a LS1 w\ a blower ,heads and small cam put down 517.9, 2 weeks earlier at carolina auto masters dynojet he put down 518.0 w\ no changes to his setup. So I`d say the numbers are there. However I will say this i made 3 pulls first was 391.9, 2nd 403.7 and 3rd was 395.6. So i would say real numbers are around 395-400, but hey you always gotta claim your best mumber.
If you go w\ TEA heads or anybodies heads for that matter you need to get them independently flowed. As you see I am very pleased that I did, look at my finished product.

Re: TEA heads dyno 403 on a LT1 A4
thanks for posting the flow info 260ish peak and 403hp
everyone worries more about 300+ flows these days and to little about velocity...
Brent told me on the phone about velocity when i ordered my heads

HD,
I believe he has a 355 shortblock, not quite stock IMO
I would like to see these 400rwhp LT1's run at MIR Oct.4th
A few have posted on EFA with these big #'s, any of them
gonna run at MIR Oct 4th?

My baby girl is due Oct5th, so I don`t think so.
however I plan to get to VMP before then. I was going to go this evening but got rained out. I`d be happy to email you the slip. Or tell you what day I`m going to VMP. Don`t worry I already ran 12.4`s consistent in good weather w\ traction at VMP as a bolt-on car. i just added over 100rwhp, so w\ traction I will be in the 11`s. Lets see how well BFG drag radials can take 400rwhp.

400 rwhp out of an LT1 headed car is not at all unusual. It's been done over and over in my area.
Awesome job, I bet that thing feels QUICK with that kind of rwhp and the TQ'y LT1...
