lq9+l92's+Comp 285LLR Will this work with the pistons cut?
I'm putting together an LQ9 shortblock with l92 heads, vic jr carb intake and leaning towards the Comp 285LLR cam on a 113 lsa and had a couple of question. I realize the pistons will need to be flycut, is there enough material in the face of the piston to flycut for this arrangement without getting too thin? Also does this sound like a good cam for this setup? It's going in a 2800 drag car with a th350, 4.56 gears and a 29in tire. Thanks for any help,
Darren

Heres an article with dyno testing on a bunch of cams, they wanted to do the 285LR but it had PTV issues so they couldnt run it. They ran one slightly smaller(277LR) and made 550hp with a carb on a 6.0L w/ LS3 heads, which are L92 heads with the lightweight intake valves.

Pretty close to my 6.0/L92 headed build. I'm running a 238/250 cam w/ 113+3. I flycut the pistons since the heads are milled. I don't know about the stock pistons making the flycut. Mine are Diamonds. The cam itself should be good for that build w/ that usage in mind.
