Default How about this set up vs. truck coils

I saw this set up at the SEMA show. Granted it was on a land speed record car, but the set up is the same as the LS engines.

Would it be worth trying this?

Why bother, the stock GM coils (car or truck) have more than enough power.

That's why I was asking. I looked these up on Jeg's and they were $42 bucks each. I don't know what stock one go for. See I'm going to be building an engine from scratch so my options are open.

$42 each is pretty cheap compared to new stockers.

That's what I was thinking. Although, I do not know how much the stock ones run.
How much power does the stock ones put out compared to these? Hey, if it's cheaper and gives more spark then why not for the price?

Those don't appear to be LS1 style coils. They have no electronics in them and are just 2 wire hookup regular ignition coils.

LS1 style coils have the electronics built into each coil.

If you buy those, I'm afraid you'll have 8 $42 paper weights!

That's what I was thinking also. There are only two wires going to them, instead of four.

If you want aftermarket, just save up your money and buy the coils MSD actually makes for the LS motors. Otherwise, I'd nab onto a nice set of used stock coils if you can.

Stay away from the MSD's! They are very unreliable.......................

The stock coils offer plenty of juice for our cars. If you have a bad coil or coils and need to replace yours, These would be a great option [ if they work on our cars ] compared to new ones from GM or from MSD.
