I always thought you would want the maf as large as the throttle body so as not to have a bottleneck in the air intake tract. Airlid opening should be as large as the maf also.

My maf is 85mm with the 90mm Fast TB, which I'm told is ok because the blade on the TB takes up some mm's so it's not really a bottleneck.

I still have an untouched factory maf on my car. I've often wondered if it's a bottleneck, and if there would be something to gain by removing it and just throwing the biggest cone filter on the TB I can.... never tried it though.

I'm about to go toa super victor, at that point the carb type TB will be on.

With the aftermarket airlid that had a what 85-90mm opening then going through a 75mm stock maf, they were 75mm right? haha then through a 90mm tb then yeat the stock piece is a bottleneck. probably not hurting you too much on the nitrous but N/A absolutely!

To be honest, the slp lid went on the car and the fast 90 (untouched) went on the car with the 402 and I never even tried.looked at doing anything with the maf. At the time the only thing you could do was an 85mm slp one, and those things are absolute junk.. I've seen more of those fail over the years then I even care to count... so I never touched it.

All the SD tuning and whatnot, never tried any of that either. Car ran decent, I never looked at it like it was down on power, car's always been heavy IMO and that's been what has held it back... the maf, who knows. If I pull it, and put a super victor on and change to a little bigger cam and it picks up, great.

I will, have the super victor ported (or I'll do it) before it goes on, and I'll hang onto the 90mm in case the thing doesn't make any power after it gets freshened up so I can toss the fast back on just in case.

Once I know the single plane is making more power I'll plumb it, but not until then, just for this reason.

If I put some parts in the motor so it will spin 7800, I think it will probably pick up with the single plane, I can't see a 400 inch motor getting enough air thru it with a fast intake to make power to 7800 like I want it to. As it is, look at the dyno graph in my sig, you can see it crest at where I think the fast peaks off and just carries that power level out. I "think" that's the intake tract becoming a restriction now, before I put a bigger cam in it.

I'd love to know this too. I asked a while back with limited responses. Texas Speed & Performance was talking about big performance gains before they came out with theirs but I haven't heard anything since. If I thought I could get 8 rwhp over my 85 mm maf I'd do it. I have a 427 LS7. I would think some of the builders/tuners would know.

If the lid opening and duct hose, MAF, TB and opening on the intake is all the same you have the best flow possible.

If any of those parts are smaller than any other...you just created a weak link.

The only lid I know that will fit a 100 mm MAF is the fast toys 104 mm lid.
