Default top end package for 08 escalade

Hello,

I have owned my escalade for 2 years now and I am thining about doing some bolt ons. I am interested doing some heads, intake manifold, rockers, cam and headers. what parts would you use if you were to do this build?

Thanks.

I'd do a cam, longtube headers. cold air intake, ported throttle body ( and maybe ported intake depending on your budget ) and get it tuned by someone reputable.

The heads are good you dont need to change them. You can get the CNC ported if you like WCCH has a good rep but gains without porting those heads are substantial

How much does it cost to port these heads? any rough hp gains with these parts?

I'm not sure same HP figures work on my motor but I saw trick flow ls1 head package that makes 515 to 550hp or so. will this package work for my 08 motor?

The trickflow heads are nice pieces but different technology based on LS1 cathedral port systems. What your engine has is new rectangular/square ports that are based on LS7 castings and flow substantially more than stock LS1 cathedral ports. They flow so well in fact that even stock unported L92 heads flow as well or better than most CNC ported cathedral port heads. The Trickflows are nice and will probably make more power than stock L92 heads if I was a guessing man. That said if i were you I think I'd wait literally a week or two as AFR has an impending launch of a new L92/LS3 rectangle port casting about to land that will obliterate the flow of the best current offerings.

Even still with your stock heads for the mods I've suggested above you could expect 450 or so rwhp. With a decent set of ported L92 heads you'll probably end up 470 ish if you match up the cam properly etc.

With the new AFR heads? Who knows but if their past success is any indication of what to expect then I'd expect them to be impressive.

Do you have AFM? If so you have to remove it to run a cam.

Comp did a cam on an L92 the gained 70hp and didnt loose any torque. Id start there if you dont have AFM, and the headers/exhaust.

For rockers, I would stick with the OEM rockers and just upgrade the trunions. Be carefull not to change rocker ratios. VVT is vert tight on PTV clearance, its .080" on the intake and exhaust, you cant go much tighter safley without pistons.

Has this been as prevalent as it was with LS1's? Any links showing L92 rocker arm failures by chance? Also Im curious I've seen some of your posts over at PT and wondered what valve springs your running? Also any issues with your build thus far? Thanks

No problems so far. Im running 918s, .060" form coilbind on my 219/235 .607/.621 Cam. Ive run to 7000RPM on occasion without issue.

As for the rockers, no matter what, the trunion is going to be the weak point of the rocker. An upgraded OEM rocker is what I plan on running as soon as my wife lets me have some play money.

Sounds great! Thats very similar to the cam Im going to run. Are you still on your stock L92 lifters?

As for play money? Hahaha yeah I know that alll too well. It takes me a year or two to squirrel away enough dough to build something worthwhile
