My ported LS3 intake pics/info
Decided to port my own intake. Curious to see how much I gain. I will be testing it on back to back dyno pulls to see what it does. Will be going on 416 LS3/L92 motor. Motor make 482 rwhp with stock ls3 intake.
I spent tons of time on this thing. Porting wasn't bad. But removing the inner posts and resealing the intake is very time consuming. I have tons of open cuts hands from inside plenum. Very sharp edges in there. If I had it to do again I would just pay someone to do this. I have around 30 hours in cutting/grinding and sanding.
I opened up the runners and hand sanded them. Went about 6-8 inches deep
I opened up the throttle body area and removed all sharp edges. Finish sanded.
Removed inner posts. Resealed bottom post holes with metal plates and JB Weld. Took two packs of it.
I hand sanded plenum area to remove sharp edges.
I think It turned out ok

Thanks for compliments. I would have had results yesterday. But I broke the tailshaft housing on my trans on the second pull with stock intake. Right before I was going to install the ported intake. Should have it fixed this week.

I used a small air saw to cut out the posts. I went in through the throttle body opening. Just have to me real careful. This is the underside where the post wells are sealed up.

If i get time I might port mine too. I was thinking about just machining out the entire hole where the bottoms of the posts are. So instead of trying to work through the TB opening ( which is impossible for me theres no way my hands can fit in there I tried ) so I thought if i just machined them out and down to the roof of the intake then i could make some plugs and either plastic weld them in there or some other suitable method. Probably be a hella lot easier.
Im curious though is there anywhere inside the air cavity in particular that responds well to porting or is it mainly the TB opening and post removing that makes gains?

The throttle body opening and post remove enlarges the plenum. I think that is where the added air flow will come from. I did not take any material out of the plenum floor or roof. Just knocked down all the sharp edges.
