Why not just eliminate the maf and run a speed density tune and eliminate the possibility of restriction all together?

Isn't it better if you can tune with maf, more advantage than not.

Thats a debate that will never end. Choose what you prefer. Run the 85mm MAF and if you have a big kPa drop, or you max out the MAF you can always upgrade to the 102mm Haltech MAF.

I'm running the 85mm MAF with a 90mm lid (Fast Toys) into a Holly 90mm TB and a L76 intake. We haven't maxed out the MAF yet. I used the SLP smooth bellows to connect the meter to the MAF, and the lid cam with a hose to connect the maf to it.
On running speed density and MAF my tuner stated for a street driven car the MAF adapts to weather changes faster. Living in Texas the weather changes very quick 40-80 all in the same day. Thats why I'm still running with a MAF

the temp up north (Canada) changes alot from spring to fall, i would like to keep maf, i was producing 457rwhp before these changes that i am making, do you think that i would max out maf, it is the 85mm truck maf. i was allready having issue with bucking(bad) under light load.

1LEJHON i just noticed that you are making 508hp and you said you haven't max out the maf yet , i shoud be good. i am up-grading intake and tb to 102tb and 102 fast int. was going to go with 92 -92 but intake is not avail. any more, and they say that i won't loose any thing going to 102, my maf will be the bottle neck but if it can suply my engine there should be no negative effect.

i was running my stock ls6 intake and tb ported, i knew i was loosing hp but was out of $$ at the time of build last year, have saved up for better intake, tb, inj, fuel rail, and hose and gauge kit(over 2500$) upgrade, hope to see a small diference. the screen in the maf is there to straighten the air as it passes over the resistance in the maf for a better reading and to be more consistance. on another note i had taken the screen out of an old maf that was no good at work to see how mutch of a restriction it was and compressed it all together and had made a restriction almost 3/4"to 1" square.

My MAF is descreened. If you want to stay MAF try the new LS3 or 7 type MAF. You want to stay MAF with the big weather swings that you have. Thats why we stayed with one. Keep us posted on how the 102 works. Some people have had good results othersw have not. Even Kevin(WCMKD) has stated that his 102 has alot of work done to it. More then most people have done.

won't have results until this spring, but will keep up to date on how the fit and mode i will have to do to get it to run, like already i had to buy new injectores because my new racetronix 42lb body inj. are to big to fit the fast 102, you need to run the slim ls1 ls6 stock style inj. they don't say that anywhere.

I had the same problem with the L76 intake. The injectors for it had to have a protruded tip.

well here how it's going, i received my injectors today and they do not fit in the intake, they are to small in the hole, and the fast hose and gauge kit 54028g-kit i received has one of the hose( the one that goes to the rail to the fender feed line has the bend on the fram side 180 degrees off, and is not flexible enough to try and turn it, the fittings are crimped on. my dealer for my hose says it will take 3-4 weeks before i can get another one waiting to here from my injector guy to see if i need bigger o rings or spacers.

For my injectore probleme, i remembered seeing i bag of o rings in the box of my fast 102 intake, they are mutch fatter, put them on my new injectors and it all fits perfect, now just have to wait for my hose, no rush car is in basement for the winter.

Have you tired the nylon braided hose and fittings they are great to work with. Its just like the stainless steel AN hose but easier to work with.

I just made the FAST 102 purchase for my LS1 and i was curious to know if you had to upgrade your injectors to the 42lbs. ones or can you get away with the stock injectors.

you want to keep the MAF the same size or bigger than the TB opening imo. get a ls3/7 setup.
