From what I have found, it sounds like the L92 & LS3 heads use the same castings. But the valves are different. If you can get the LS3 heads for about $25 more a piece, would the LS3 valves be better than the L92 ones?
The intakes are hollow on the LS3. The exhaust are the same. There are better valves out then the stock GM ones. If the heads are already assy. then its a good buy. The GM intakes run over $ 25 a piece.
I didn't actually see them listed, or talk to the "supplier", was was told the price by a friend of mine that is selling alot of LS series motors he gets from salvage yards. The price he told me for the L92 heads was $650 plus shipping.
thats not too bad. i have seen stock l92 heads assembled on here go for 400 plus shipping. somtimes a bit more. for 650 plus shipping and the need for new springs you should just call some of the sponsors to see if they just have brand new fresh gm castings with upgraded springs on them already and u can bolt them on with no worries. probably would be around the same price. cuz u figure the heads will be 700 dollars shipped to you through your connection. plus a valve spring kit which is about 240 so thats 940 for stock used heads with a upgraded spring kit. plus a valve job on the used heads which would be into the 1200+ dollar range total. at that point it would almost be worth buying CNC'd L92s from a sponsor.
thats not bad at all i think. that is if they are for sure brand new. 640 shipped plus some 180 dollar springs suited for a .600+ lift cam is only 820 dollars. than maybe try to sell those springs for 50 bucks to get some money back. not bad at all. the ls3 or l92 heads from SDPC are 750+ and u would still need springs (again assuming your putting in a .600+ lift cam). so 640 shipped for BRAND NEW ASSEMBLED PAIR of l92 heads is agreat deal.

Those SDPC heads that are $750 each have been CNC'd and flow like stock LS7 heads, plus they have Manley valves, Titanium Retainers, Patriot Performance Locks and DUAL valvesprings, good for .660" lift.

i know what heads you r talking about. and i linked the same STOCK ls3 & l92 heads in a previous post. so my $750+ dollar estimate was for the PAIR of STOCK ls3 heads and the l92s would be more hence the $750+. so his $640 shipped price for BRAND NEW ASSEMBLED
PAIR of STOCK l92 heads is a great price.
i think u just got confused on what i was telling him.
and as far as paying $1400+ dollars for cnc heads from SDPC is just not worth it TO ME. i would rather pay more at WCCH or TEA for their cnc l92s.
Jumped om here looking for answers to my questions and found this. I'm actually replacing the stock intake valves in some L92's or 823 heads with new GM LS3 hollow stem intake valves.
I'm finding the top of the LS3 valve to about .025 taller.
