IMO it is worth it. People tend to see ~15 HP~ on alot of cases. Would you know what year did your friend buy it?

I always heard about the first production of those UD Pulleys coming out not soo good for the money. Specially for being a overpriced product for the results. Last I remember they did come out with a production of them that was a better product than the last one. Never really knew if this was a lie or not, some people just switched over to the ASP Pulley instead, but now days people seem to like them (SLP Pulleys). Have a pic of it?

I remember me and a buddy raced all the time he had a 383 stroker silverado it was neck to neck every time i couldnt out run him he couldnt out run me. I ordered and swapped underdrive pulley and pulled him by a truck every time. He couldn stand it lol. It worked for me!

The only real difference between early and late ones was taller walls to hold the belt on better.

Run it! Between my wife and I we have 4 vehicles and all 4 have a Powerbond underdrive on them.

I have a Powerbond 25% on my car as well and no issues whatsoever, neither do any of our customers with the Powerbonds either. We use ATI's underdrive pulley on a ton of the LS7 Vettes and haven't seen any problems either.

I've had 0 issues. Some guys have had issues, but it's RARE and generally can be associated with a weak alternator, large electronics demands from things added to the vehicle etc. When that happens there is an overdrive alternator pulley available, but most people don't need it.

I bough the OD alternator pulley to begin with. Are the concerns about the SLPs/Powerbonds being out of balance and contributing to failure unfounded?

I'm just concerned because I plan on spinning my LS2 to 7K. Wondering if I need to sell my Powerbond and get an ATI 10% UD.

I've never seen issues with the Powerbond/SLP. It is easily the most popular/highest selling balancer for LS engines, and as such if there were truly problems it would be very apparent.

I turn my h/c/i/spray C5 to 6900 and haven't had issues with my powerbond yet. For general street duty and drag strip/street cars I wouldn't hesitate to use the powerbond (as evidenced by my 4 vehicles that have it). There's no doubt ATI is a better balancer in serious applications and it's definitely a good idea to consider it if you are building a road race car or a serious drag car. If you're gonna live at 7k, road race, or race a LOT, go ATI. If it's just a fun street car that gets raced some weekends stick with powerbond.

Get the stock size balancer.
Call ati, I bet they will say stock size, for 7,000 rpm's.

On a motor spinning to 7,000 rpm's, it's all about the harmonics of the internal parts.
ATI balancers are great dampers.

I'm sold I will be purchasing my powerbond next week. Plan on using it with a heads, cam, 416 with nitrous. Don't plan on spinning it more that 6800 rpm.
