Default f body oil pan fit on ls2

Im doing my ls2 swap in my 98SS. I cant get the oil pan squared on the block. Nothing is catching or hitting the pan. Its as if the holes need to be stretched or something. One back corner of the pan sticks out a good 1/8 past the block. I was thinking of just shaving it...

What oil pan are you using? LS1 or LS2?

What rear and front covers are you using?

I did this swap in 2004 so my memory is fuzzy but you can use the LS1 pan on the LS2 block, but I recall that the LS2 front and rear covers were necessary.

I suspect a good search will get you where you need to be.

The Ls2 rear cover is the same as the LS1, the front cover from the LS2 will be needed for the cam sensor mount. However these covers all have the oil pan mounting holes in the same spots, you've got another problem.
Did you swap the oil pump pickup and winage tray from the LS1 as well a the oil pan? Does the new LS2 have aftermarket main caps studs?

The f-body oil pan will not fit a full length windage tray since it is too shallow in the front. You need to use a 3/4 length windage tray that does not cover cylinders 1 and 2.

Thank you,
I am aware of this. However this is not a problem of anything hitting. It seems the block and pan arent squared.

pictures would probably be a little more helpful, i dont think i've ever seen a pan or block that was warped or out of square that you couldnt get the pan bolts in, I've put all sorts of combinations of pans and motors together and never had an issue so long as the windage trays and pickups were the right ones...
