Default 2005 6.0 (ls2?)

So I have a 2005 6.0 vortec out of a 3/4 ton avalanche, in my 1972 c10. Bought the truck set up this way, has a FAST billet fuel rails, and fuel system. Has 4" cold air intake, and full exhaust system, with a tune for 91 octane. Anyways, I want more power I want to know what the best head and cam combo for a street driven truck? I want 450-500hp at the wheels. I was thinking a ported FAST 102mm intake manifold and throttle body, or I've read a ported ls6 is also a good option? Where can I buy these parts and who could tune the truck? I will add probably 100 hp shot of nitrous later down the road. Will the bottom end hold this power?

Thanks, Dylan

I thought it was a lq9, but was told it was a ls2, but I will check the casting numbers. It was a 3/4 avalanche or suburban. I'm not sure which.

I have a 6.0l or alum. ls2 from 2006 TBSS. As per GM it was a left over 2005 24x engine.

Thanks for the info everyone! I did find out that its the aeromotive fuel rails and fuel system, not FAST. And the motor is out of a 2005 Avalanche. So that means its got a 5.3 correct? I will be able to check the numbers on the heads Friday since that's when I will be with the truck.

I was just told by the previous owner who had a shop do the conversion that it has a Camaro ecu and throttle body if that helps figure out what motor is it in. He claims it is a 6.0 with a throttle cable instead of electronic throttle body.

Lower right corner of the head, so on the passenger side it will be at the front of the motor.

As Per Mitchell, 2005 Avalanche came with 4 engine options. 4.8, 5.3, 6.0, 8.1.

Here is some info where to find and decode the engine ID

The 6.0 was available in 2007 but not in 2005. Please show where Mitchell says different.

Here you go:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/attachmen...1&d=1380935444

It says it did, but you are right omc8, only 5.3 & 8.1 where available on the 2002-2006 models, and 5.3 & 6.0 on the 2007+ models.

It has 317 casted on the heads, and it also has black plastic intake manifold if that helps

317's are Aluminum Heads that came on the LQ4 and LQ9 6.0L

I don't think that motor came out of a avalanche

I don't think so either, anything else I can read off the motor to find out what exactly it came out of? If it has a black plastic intake does that mean I have a ls6 intake?

I'm thinking a TSP cam package, 228r 112lsa, with a dyno tune from MC racing in Overland Park, Kansas.. What do you all think? Can I reach 400whp at least? I've got the full aeromotive fuel system, electric fan, long tubes, no cats, Camaro throttle body, and what looks like a ls6 intake manifold, will be a 91 octane tune.

Can I do it with a mirror and light? Or will I need to remove something to see it?

What intake is on it right now is irrevelant to what engine it is. Just about all of the ls stuff from 4.8, 5.3, 5.7 and 6.0 l stuff with swap to each other. So you can have a ls1 or ls6 intake on a 4.8, 5.3 or 6.0. The best way is to post some pics and do some research on your own. the 317 head number is a great start and would make all of us think you have a 6.0l but that doesnt mean someone put those heads on a different block.
