Default 6.8 LS3 headers vs stock manifolds

Looking for some exhaust advice. Would you guys go with long tube headers or stock LS3 manifolds for daily driving/trail riding/occasional light towing? Rig is a '76 K5 Blazer. Motor is a 415CI LS3 stroker ported 823 heads. Factory LS3 intake. Cam specs are as follows: duration .050" 210/218* lift .550/.550 LSA 116. I'm wondering if headers are necessary since this is a 6.8L motor, but I really don't plan on spinning it past 6k, ever. Really just driving around town & beating/playing with it off road, am I going to choke this thing with stock manifolds (way cheaper) or do I need to spend hundreds for headers that flow well. Also I won't be running cats & I'm thinking a dual 3" inlet, single 3" outlet walker quiet flow ss for a muffler.

I run hooker exhaust manifolds on my 402 with ls3 heads and it works well enough. If you can fit them ls7 exhaust manifolds are great. Z28 Camaro manifolds are like shorty headers - another nice option.

My original cam was a 211/218 on 116. Now 226/242.

I would go with long tubes......and the biggest tubes that would fit under the hood....1 7/8" or 2".

Loss of long-end torque with large-tube headers is BS.

It's in an early Blazer. He might have built it as a big-cube truck engine, Lots of low end, and for that you need a small cam and heads.

I got the motor from a guy who originally built it for an fbody; originally had 12.5:1 Compression ratio (originally set up for E85), original cam specs were duration .050 231/239* lift: .617/.623 LSA: 112. I got the motor for a '97 240sx I had, but I couldn't get it titled & I've since sold. K5 is what I have now.

OP says ported 823s on 415c. I say the cam is tiny for that motor and “ported” 823s and yes, I see he has a Blazer, thanks for pointing that out.

I've run Thorley tri-Y ,,, they rock for offroad wheeling ,, great bottom and and they pull nicely up high.. I think Hooker owns them now?
