The bird in my profile has been setting for several years. Finally get back to it and got her running but aside frommaome fuel leaks it's developed a lifter noise (louder then normal) on the driver side. I assumed it was bleed down from the amount of time it's been setting, but this evening I started and let it run till tstat opened up and it never went away.
Oil pressure is good 40psi @ idle, and revving didn't seem to build up pressure for the lifter.
do i need to let it run longer?

You can easily run an LS motor with no valve covers. Just remove them, plug in coils again and let hang down. we do it all the time when these POS trucks AFM lifters collapse, break springs, bend pushrods, etc etc.

Clearer head and less caffiene........ I pulled the VC this morning everything was actually good torque was right
I have 3"tall valve covers and I flipped them and saw where the rocker arms were slapping the edges where it wasn't quite lined up right
