Question Any benefits from coil relocation?

Besides the cosmetic appeal of nicer looking valve covers, etc. are there any real gains from relocating the coils to the fenders as far as heat, etc. goes? I mean like does the heat from the heads etc. really make a difference of the coils performance or no? Is it purely cosmetic and convenience to get into the heads?

Default Cool Coils are best

Hi all, relocating the ignition coils to a lower temperature location WILL increase coil performance, they do have a heat sink with air cooled fins.

The increase in Spark Plug Wire length will INCREASE Arc Duration, also good.

Id spend time on Heat shielding for headers ( double wall thermal like oem uses, not the headers wraps ) to keep that heat directed, before relocating coils.

I just got done doing it and everything is working well although its hard to tell if there is any difference as I'm on a basemap still until my clutch is broken in. I did reuse some thermal covers for the boots by the plugs. Is there anything I need to change in hptuners for the truck coils?

While there may not be a quantifiable performance increase, higher heat is not good for performance or longevity of coils. Not sure how are duration would be affected.
