The tech guy at LG Motorsports told me they tested it on a stock LS7 and got essentially no gain. No losses anywhere, but no gains either.

We found the same results as LG Motorsports. We finally got to testing this manifold. The engine we were using it on ended up getting some revisions. Sorry it took so long guys, but the manifold made 0hp and lost torque.

This intake is not designed to improve on a stock motor. These are designed to pickup where the factory intake leaves off...High RPM large volumes of air. It is for high reving mean motors sqeezing every last HP out of it. I do not see anyone in there right mind spending $3000 for an intake on a vertually stock motor.

I was always told that a sheet metal intake is not designed for a stock motors, they are made for either high rpm,big cubic inch or boosted application's or a combination off all three. Who would spend thousand's off dollars on a full out race piece and stick it on a stock motor?

You were told right!! The only reason to stick this on a stock motor is pure bling factor

Katech didn't test it on a stock motor, if you were refering to them

If anyone was expecting this intake to pick up HP/TQ on a stock or slightly modified LS7 engine they wasted their money. I don't even think Wilson predicted that. But this thing DOES pick up HP/TQ on a highly modified engine, that is a proven back to back engine Dyno fact!.. Even on a smaller CID engine. But like I said, if you're looking for more HP on your stock LS7 and only have 3K to spend... Spend your money on something else.

This intake setup is a serious heat sink as well, you can make some power with it, but it runs HOT, and keeps the heat in for a long long time.

I have no reason to doubt this given Wilson's reputation for manifold work but I must say that I find it highly irregular.....as a matter of fact I find it flat out bizzare that as the manufacturer, they would have proof positive facts and data and actually show HP/TQ curves based on an engine dyno test on a motor in their facilty that would have been used during the devlopment of this manifold! I personally don't mind spending the money on it since I will have modified heads and a large cam but I'd really like to know what to expect BEFORE I buy.

I didn't say, nor do I know if "Wilson" has the facts or not... I'm just saying that I do.> (Back to back testing on the same engine, same day, same everything)... Only change was the manifold. That said, I would not put one on the car in your sig... It would do you no good. Nothing to gain on a stock LS7... Do your mods first and them see if you want a little more HP/TQ for the cost/effect factor of the billet intake... 3K is a lot of $$$ for 20-ish HP...

I'd still like to see an L92 version of this intake. The LS7 intake is much better than the L76 to begin with.

Katech tested it on an engine with a World Challenge cam, 240/252 116.5 LSA, results on an engine dyno. So it was hardly a mild build.

See posts 325 and 326.

There would seem to be something going on here with the interactions between intake, cam, exhaust, etc. which seems to work for some combos and not others.

Very true. It's all about combinations. And I know nothing about the engine they used so I won't commit on it. I'm just going by what I found during testing and the billet intakes, both the LS1 and the LS7 version out performed all the stock intakes including the F/X intakes... And all tests were performed on a Super Flow engine dyno or a Mustang Chassis Dyno... With more testing to come... Testing something on just one engine doesn't prove very much... Unless that's the only engine you offer or build. JMHO.

i bought a ls1 wilson a while back.i picked up 10 rwhp at 6500 rpm.i picked up another 500 rpm over the fast as the hp torque stayed level where as the fast nose dived at 6500.looking back it seems the camshaft is the determining factor(how much you can spin)as to what your result may be.if that is true i would love to see some 8000 rpm motor results.it does heat sink quite a bit in hot weather, but when temps drop to around 60 degrees the iat will hold around 80 when running.it does bother me about the runners blocking about 50% of the intake opening.you would really have to fill that intake to make it work,so some type of ram air is manditory as far as i see.i think 9 ***** intake is far better.
