Default Sheet metal intake on AFR 225 heads?

Anyone try that yet? I'm running the FAST 90/90, but power is falling sooner than it should for the huge cam I'm running. Just wondering if there would be an advantage. Thanks.

if this is an allout drag application save the money and get a ported single plane manifold.

How much power you pushing? I`m running a Beck sheetmetal right now. If your not going to spin in the 7000rpm range don`t do it. My A4 ECU will not let me. Now I`m saving for a trans to let me. These intakes pull really high in the rpms. I lost 25rwhp and 35trq in the low and mid range to gain from 6200-6900rpms. From about 6300-7300rpms I had the same rwhp! Pulls long and hard up top, but if your not running it up there like me It`s no good!!

What does an A4 ECU have to do with it?

I have one and mine has been spun to 7500 with no problems.

Most would have told you you would loose down low and pick up up top.

Just spray the **** out of it and it will work great !

With a manually shifted T400, this should be no problem. Expect to gain 40-60 rwhp above 7000 rpm.

What is the numbers like from the start of the dyno to 6000 RPM.

Can you give a table with comparison?

If things are working right, somewhere around 5000 RPM the dyno's should be nearly identical and the Becks starting to take off....

I might not like this intake for the street. Might sell the intake for another set-up. I can`t afford another tranny at all. My wife said no more money for anything! I`m in trouble!!

I tell people around me that think they can put a motor together and installed for a few bucks. I alway's tell them it'll likely cost them 50% more than you origionally think for various reasons, one of them is breakage. Many of them though have to learn the hard way.

Also wanted to thank you for confirming that these sheet metal intakes are not ideal for anything other than drag racing. I was told what you confirmed from Dave at Canadian Performance, but it's good to hear it from a secondary source.

Best of luck, hope everything works out.

This intake isn`t that bad. Its just that my tranny that I spent 2k on doesn`t let me spin her high enough. Other than that I`m okay with it. A good 4l80 trans is like 3k plus install and 4l60 don`t like thr rpm`s high. I`m going to take her to the track and see what she does. But if you want to make good power from 5500-8k. This is the way to go! You just have to be able to spin it that way.

I dont see any motor specs in your sig. Are you running the AFR's on a 402+ block? Solid or Hyd? What rockers? These are all the things that I know I'd have to consider in order to spin the motor that high. I do have the manually shifted T400, so no issues there.

I'm just looking for some solid results from someone with a similar setup. I do drive the car on the street, but traction is very limited an lower RPM's, so loosing some there is no big deal, especially when hiting the spray.

Well, I don't know if this is good or bad but it's a cast intake and flowed using an AFR 225 head.

It maybe something to compare with. It was done with some carbon trumpets fitted inside my plenum. Runner dimensions to Steve's specs at RED. Sorry it's just not really viable to sell to the US as I make them one at a time plus the exchange rate is poor for you at the moment, then there's the shipping and duty etc but you should be able to get something similar at home or aim for better.
