Default header question

Does anyone have any info. regarding the gains of going to a 1 7/8" header from a 1 3/4" header on a 402 with L92's??? Just curious of the swap would be worth the $$$$$$$$.

i dont think your gonna find many people who's switched from 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 as most will go 1 7/8 from the start on the l92 setups. and the other fact that this setup is still new. honestly id say the 1 7/8 w/ ls7 style (d port) flanges and big collectors from kooks or american racing should show you considerable gains over a traditional ls1 1 3/4 header. but would love to see a dyno comparison for sure. good luck

Stick with your 1 3/4". No reason to spend more money on switching and when there is no solid proof of gains.

I appreciate the responses, I would like to see the gains as well. I just don't want to spend another 1K on new headers when the set I bought is less than 2 months old. I guess I'll wait to see if anyone else does this and makes alot more HP.
Thanks!

How does a regular ls1 header work on the l92 head? Doesn't the l92 have a D port for the exhaust like the ls7? Would think just going to the D port header would be a gain let a lone the 1 7/8.

It is my understanding that the ls1 headers are big enough to cover the D shaped exhaust port. If the header circumfrance is bigger than the exhaust port, should shape matter?

Long Tube Kooks will fit the bill...but a setup with Y-pipe will be somewhat over $1000.

Great question. I am wondering the same thing. Would Hooker 1 7/8 header's fit the L92 port design with out any flow/power problems?

... I've searched and this was the only thread I could find.
