"Formula1 inspired trumpets" blah blah

History repeats itself... this thing is not even in true tuners hands yet, and already everything on the market has been obsoleted. The Holley marketing and sales department must be loving this thread: The more they keep silent, the better their product becomes.

Lets take a reality pill and wait till guys like AFR and the other head manufacturers give a true assesment.

While I have a lot of respect for head porters I will make my own judgement.
I learned a long time ago if you talk to 5 head porters about cylinder heads and port design your going to get 5 different opinions. Funny thing is that most know very well how to get the job done. In the end the engine is what I want to be happy.
No matter what your going to find people that won't be happy. THat is why I am pleased that as time goes by more choices are coming to market.

I was very happy to see an alternative for the L92/LS3 intake. Never mind all the comparisons for the LS1,2 and 6 crowd.

I like many others are anxious to test this manifold. I talked to several people at PRI who said they will be testing this manifold in the next few months.

Yes the marketing guys are amused at the interest that this manifold has generated at SEMA and PRI. THey have certainly done a good job. I think that the sales department only wishes they had product to ship.

Things that I like

1) The design is sound, the people responsible are well respected
2) Pricing looks to be competitive
3) Initial "opinions" are positive
4) the numbers represented are realistic

Lets not shoot the baby before it's born.

After thirteen pages, I think I've come to a simple conclusion (or maybe I'm simple).

The Street Warrior manifold is similar to (in application) Edelbrock's Performer RPM.
The Fast manifold is similar to (in application) Edelbrock's Victor manifolds.
And we all know that the RPM and Victor are for very different applications. Don't we?

What caught my attention was that the Warrior has longer runners. I'm thinking this manifold would give you all the extra low end torque you can get from a truck manifold without loosing any power on the top end of your rpm range. No good for those running 400+ cid, but a big bonus for any one running a smaller (4.8, 5.3, 5.7) engine. I would like to see how the truck and Warrior manifolds stack up against each other from 2000 to 4500 rpm on these engines, although I doubt there would be much interest in such a test. Of course, if someone wanted to build a big inch torque monster for a truck or heavy street car, then the Warrior may be the perfect manifold for them.

Looks like my FAST plans are going on hold until this is out and tested.

I'm ready to pull the trigger on a FAST 90 but maybe this intake would be a better fit for my setup. Have never tracked the car (because times WILL be disappointing with a DA of 7000-8000) and don't plan on changing heads.
I have no idea what the cam specs are since AZPS keep this stuff secret

I figure someone smarter than I could look at my dyno and recommend which intake to go for.

Thanks-

i didn't read the whole thread, but starr makes a 94mm throttle body. i have one on my f.a.s.t. 90mm intake. it's a nice piece, just had to use the linkage and spring from the old gm throttle body.

I hope this thing makes more power than a ported FAST intake... Especially on the larger cube engines.. Im sure every ported fast owner would like to have that extra 3or 4 hundred bucks they spent on "porting" for something else..

From the reading they are commng out with a L92/LS7 so it COULD be better but I think it'll shine the best on a LS1/LS2 under 380CI with lots of extra power under the curve

I was excited about the prospect of something better than the FAST but as soon as I saw it I knew it would never have the top end charge and high RPM breathing abilities of the FAST which a conversation with Peter also confirmed. BUT, for some of you reading this it makes alot of sense....for others it most certainly does not. I was personally looking for something on the other end of the spectrum, something that would help the top end charge of my current 383 and the next larger displacement project I am currently working on. Looks like my ported FAST is still going to get the nod, but I might try the Wilson billet bank sheetmetal piece on the new larger motor and see how that works. With close to 450 CID I wont mind a little less TQ if it helps me generate significantly more power peak and past peak....an area even my ported FAST will be struggling with on that large a displacement.

But the ultimate release of this new intake is good because more choices are good and perhaps more competition will cause Comp (FAST) to back off a bit on their pricing....it seems they have had a monopoly on the aftermarket LS intake for a long time.

Thanks,
Tony

That is exactly right Tony! The weiand is designed to be a street intake. For the guys that aren't turning more than 6200rpm.

They are comming out with a L92 and LS7 intake down the road so I would IMAGINE these might go alittle higher than 6200...But u guys are correct in saying for us LS1/LS2 street guys this intake should shine from 3000 to 6200 and that right where I want the add power

I'm only gonna be shifting my GTO at 6400...
I cant wait to test this intake against my home ported LS2 back to back on the dyno.

why not wait till it comes out, should be worth waiting on and seeing if it makes as good of power as they say it will. but, if you have to have it right now and have money to spend, the FAST 90/90 set-up would be a good way to go, but expensive. im going to wait to see what this thing does.

I am currently building a street only 383 (all stroke), and this looks interesting. I have no plan on living in the 6200+ rpm world and was hoping to put my peak power between 6200 and 6400 rpms. This intake is obviously developed for a 346. I wonder how peak rpm of this intake would be effected by use with a 383???

Watching this one...
