Default L92 Heads or AFR 205, 215's

I have a few questions. First the background:

2005 Vette. Ported TB and intake, 232 232 .567 lift cam. Kooks 1 3/4 headers and Corsa making 420HP.

1.) Which would benefit me most. AFR 205, 215, or L92 CNC machined heads

2.) What kind of HP would I see from each?

3.) Are AFR's based on the 4.0 bore also, or are they just ported LS6 design?

Thank you for all answers.

Tim

Obviously, i will agree with Alan on that one. Another good option is the Dart heads. Great heads for that combo in my opinion and for the price!! I have the Darts in stock AFR's coming!

when did afr start making 215s? I thought they only made 205's and 225's. TFS makes a 215.

My apologies, i had AFR on the brain. I meant to say the Trickflow heads. AFR makes a 205/225. Trickflow has a head we have used on a similar LS2 in a customers ride. Car put down decent power and NICE torque curve with the cam that was matched. The AFR 205cc heads are a great choice for that combo as well. Call me about any of these heads.

L92 cnc heads flow a lot. I ran afr heads on mine, depends on what you want to do, for a street car I would get the afr heads. If you're going to stroke it or add more cam and try to make big number I would do the L92 cnc, 360-370 cfm is a lot of air flow.

AFR uses their own proprietary head design, which works fabulously when compared to ported OEMs. I would go with AFR 205s, they have been a proven performer.

For the money aren't the L92's the better deal? Send them off to a reputable porter and they should outflow the others for far less, correct? Enlighten me. I'm sold on the L-92's big time right now.

As long as we're talking about a 4" bore. I believe the AFR 205's are gonna be more enjoyable. They have more velocity. More velocity means more fun and more response. To me that's what really matters, as it is hard for a street driven 364 to ever fully exploit the flow of L92's and LS7 heads. Those things flow way over necessary numbers for such a small motor.

exactly!! i debated this over and over going from L92's back to ported 243's and i kept coming back to the AFR's after seeing some dyno numbers and "under the curve" monsters. AFR 205's are the way to go with that mild cam and 364 CI. Save up the extra few hundred dollars and get the AFR's

Depends on your budget. The AFRs/ETPs/TFSs are great heads, but they're expensive. Then on top of the heads you have an expensive manifold (FAST 90)
The L92/L76 combo is quite a bit cheaper, and we've been getting great results on the 6.0s with milder cams.
The L92s do sacrifice a bit of low end torque, but not terrible.
Its all in what you wanna spend $$$. If you dont mind the price, then ETPs and a FAST 90.
