You can go .030 on the LS2 block, but that is the absoulte limit. Anything more than that you will have to either resleeve the block or just get an iron block. There are plenty of people out there running 408's with LS2 blocks using a 4'' stroke and a 4.030 bore. In my case I did a 4.1'' stroke and a 4.005 bore giving me a 413cid. The only reason I didn't do more bore was just incase I had an issue and a cylinder wall got scratched, I still have .025'' more bore to work with and clean it up.

I guess there is going to be a differing set of opinions. Here is a post that I made back in November of 2006. https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...light=ls2+bore
I am just going by what I was told. And yes there are people that have went .030 over on an LS2 with NO problems. But it was mentioned already that if you scratch the cylinder wall at all you are f'ed. Try typing in LS2 and bore into the search on the Gen. IV internal forum. You will get a variety of answers, but I am just saying that people have gone 4.030 and are doing fine.

i would think the better question in this would be, "is it worth it for 6 more cubic inches???"
hone the block and be done with it - put a lot of miles on it, or scratch a cylinder wall you can go back in and rebuild it w/ room to spare.
