Default '08 LS3 Belt Tensioner Pulley - High Lip?

I got a tip that the tensioner pulley on the '08 LS3 in
'vettes is a high-lip one, and might be a good "cheap"
way to go vs an aftermarket one. But I haven't been
able to chase down a good part number online and
the aftermarket auto parts places are showing me the
same P/N as for the one on my Camaro.

Does anyone have GM parts manual or parts system
access, and could give me the P/N for the new 'vette
pulley?

The GM part# is 12569301, and it does have a taller lip than the regular LS1 tensioner.
This is the tensioner used on the 04-07 Caddy CTS, and 05-08 Vettes.

Is there any benefit to using this besides reduced risk of throwing a belt?

throwing belts? I've been on this board since '02 and this is the first time I've seen this issue...have I not been paying attention well enough? I've never thrown a belt and this is my 3rd 98+ F-body.

I threw the belt on mine on track (usually a problem only with higher RPM). I tossed the belt at 6500+rpm and it broke my lid, and damaged part of the radiator (not always a problem I'm sure, I just was unlucky). All that ON TOP of the fact that I lost power steering and drove off course at 100+mph hitting a cone which broke my foglight and scuffed the bumper

I just put the pulley from a supercharged mid-late 90s regal. It works well and lasted longer than the motor did!

We can make them w/a higher lip if needed to help prevent this.

a high lip pulley is a very good idea, when i started making a lot of power it was a MUST for me. i don't know what i would do without it.

I have owned 3 as well and never threw a belt, but this was the only benefit I could see to using it. It doesnt look underdriven or anything special.

Less chance of distortion (the OEM one is plastic) and the looks & quality are a plus.

My 99 H/C SS would throw belts every once in a while due to extreme rpm I guess, or it simply reved that much faster with the cam that the belt would walk...

I used a single lock washer to space one of the bolts but now thinking about it, I think as the spring inside the tensioner itself ages, it bends/wears slightly crooked. Either way, it happened on a regular basis on my SS.

Mine revs to 7 grand without throwing belts. I have a steel tensioner pulley from a 6.0. I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. Here is a picture of my setup
