I got a tip that the tensioner pulley on the '08 LS3 in
'vettes is a high-lip one, and might be a good "cheap"
way to go vs an aftermarket one. But I haven't been
able to chase down a good part number online and
the aftermarket auto parts places are showing me the
same P/N as for the one on my Camaro.
Does anyone have GM parts manual or parts system
access, and could give me the P/N for the new 'vette
pulley?

throwing belts? I've been on this board since '02 and this is the first time I've seen this issue...have I not been paying attention well enough? I've never thrown a belt and this is my 3rd 98+ F-body.

I threw the belt on mine on track (usually a problem only with higher RPM). I tossed the belt at 6500+rpm and it broke my lid, and damaged part of the radiator (not always a problem I'm sure, I just was unlucky). All that ON TOP of the fact that I lost power steering and drove off course at 100+mph hitting a cone which broke my foglight and scuffed the bumper ![Sad](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_sad.gif)
I just put the pulley from a supercharged mid-late 90s regal. It works well and lasted longer than the motor did!

My 99 H/C SS would throw belts every once in a while due to extreme rpm I guess, or it simply reved that much faster with the cam that the belt would walk...
I used a single lock washer to space one of the bolts but now thinking about it, I think as the spring inside the tensioner itself ages, it bends/wears slightly crooked. Either way, it happened on a regular basis on my SS.
