Robin or anyone else.....

Has anyone been able to tune this ECU via any of the available tuning software?

i was told by hptuners, and gm, when i was at PRI that we would need a tech 2 scanner and load a vin # on to the pcm (because it doesnt have one in it) that way we could tune it with hptuners or efi live

Interesting..... I expect to have mine in a couple of weeks. Had hoped to have it by now.

This would make sense as the HP Tuners needs the vin. I'll know a lot more when I can get one in my hands.

So if a shop has a Tech II its that simple? Load a VIN and HP tuners will be able to access the ECU? I am not planning on any kind of crazy mods. I just want to put a mild cam in it. The stock LS3 cam is practically round :/

Default question on the LS2 / LS3 harness

so I have a L92 6.2L 58x engine with a 4L80 should I go with the LS2 one?

I would think that the LS3 one would be used with a 6L80 (internally controlled?

what needs to be done to get either harness to control a 4L80?

thanks

The stand alone engine harness will do the engine only, not the transmission. You would need a seperate trans controller and harness.

So If I flash/load the ecu with a GTO or C5 file won't the automatic transmission be there?

so do I need a different ECU or is it going to be cheaper to go with a speartech harness?

I think you would be better off with the Speartech harness if you were going with an automatic. This harness lacks the wires that go to the transmission. So its not just a matter of software.

The GM harnesses are not designed for automatic transmissions. You may not want to pay for the Speartech harness, but what other options are there?

I should see my controller any day now. As soon as I get it I set it up and download it on the bench. I will let you know.

It does sound like you will need a VIN to use the HP Tuners software. At least that is what my research on the HP Tuners site is telling me.

Any day now.....

anyone buys this thing in south florida -- i will be more than happy to try to load a vin into this pcm and see what happens. ---( have access to all that suff)--( im a tech). and i reprogram these things all the time.( GM vehicles. ) ---- now if its going into a manual transmission vehicle. -- maybe its possible to load a factory cts-v tune into this thing--( so we can have a manual trans) .. and then modify the tune from there. ... - hit me up./

OK, I got my kit on Friday. Been out of town so I have not had a chance to look at it until tonight. Looks pretty cool.

I will hook it to an LS3 Crate enigne and see if I can download the cal in HP Tuners. I have a couple of more ideas that I might try.

I will post up when I know more.

Robin,

Thank you so much for sticking with this! I am waiting to order my harness until you post what you find.
