Anyone familiar with this oil cooler adapter?
It is made by PowrMax. Here is the link:
http://powrmax.com/PowrBlock%20Oil%2...20Adapter.html
Just curious if the LPE or ESC is worth the extra $30. TIA.

The main points of the debate betweem z06 and I was the fact that oil is meant to run at a certain temperature. If it doesnt get warm enough it isnt lubricating properly. I run a radiator with a built in oil cooler ( Ron Davis) but carry 7 and 14 plate Ron davis heat exchangers that peope use for cooling their oil and PS fluid as well as trans and rear fluids.

200 degrees MAXIMUM oil temp is too low.

The ideal oil temps for Synthetic lubed LSs is ~200-260f, IMO. The less time below or above, the better, thus most street cars are fine under normal conditions. If the water temp is running hot, the stand alone air>oil cooler probably won't keep up during sustained hard running. It is great for stabilizing oil temps during hard bursts but once the internal components heat soak higher, you need a higher capacity radiator with internal oil cooler, which can regulate both oil and water temps.HO engines generate more heat. The fluid temps follow each other, reflecting the regulating capacity.
My car, probably typical, runs with good oil and water temps on the street but after about 10 min of track time all bets were off with oil>air cooler. Summer track oil temps >290f. (WI)
A real R D, Dewitts (or like) high capacity radiator with internal oil cooler fixes, a real problem.
IMO,
Bruce

Last time at the track, oil temps were 295* before I backed it down, with oil pressure getting below 35 lbs. With at $10k motor, a $300 oil cooler is pretty cheap insurance. I am plumbing in a thermostat to make sure it runs at the correct temp for DD.
99BlancoSS - that is a nice looking adapter.

The remote adapters, particularly that one are relatively easy to install. On Corvettes you just need to make sure that the oil filter does not become the lowest hanging (first hit) under the car.
WADDISME,
Based on what you just stated, and regardless of what adapter you use, I don't think you will have the desired result without a new radiator with IOC. Your cooler thermo may be wide open but you won't be able to lower the oil temp significantly.
Not for track use. Even with my 402 the external cooler in front of the radiator just delayed the >295 temp for a lap or two.
Believe me, I know first hand, and I don't sell radiators.
