Default Pushrods: Smith Bros or CV Products??

Here's the story, I ordered the pushrods with my setup months ago but need to wait until I know the exact length before I have them dropped shipped to me. My motor is close to being done and my builder wanted to use the CV products pushrods because he can have them next day since they are local to us. Would you stay with the Smith bros or just get the refund for those and just order the CV set? The problem with the Smith Bros is the length of time waiting to have them shipped to me since they are in Washington State. I have gotten the best stuff for my build and do not want to skimp on pushrods. I just have no experience using the CV products stuff before. There is a savings of about $75 with the CV stuff too but that is not any reason to get them over the Smith Bros if the Smith Bros is better. Thanks for the opinions.

IMHO, either would be fine as long as they are the specifications you're looking for. Smith Bros., Trend, and Manton all make great pushrods. I'd bet CV sources from one of these vendors.

Correct. Cv is actually Trend. Any advantages going with the 3 piece design of the smith bros to a 1 piece design CV??

I would prefer the one piece push rods over the three piece IF they are .080 wall minimum.

I ordered 11/32 .120 custom length PR's from Terry Manton at 5:30 EST on Wednesday. They were on my porch when I got home yesterday. You can't beat that for customer service.

They are a 3/8 pushrod for solid roller so not real sure on the wall thickness?

We've used/sold Smith Brothers (they are local to me) but we use Manton's in our builds 98% of the time. Just a preference of my builder, there was/is nothing wrong with Smith Brothers. Ask them to ship them USPS priority flat rate box, not sure if they will but it never hurts to ask.

I'd call Chris Straub(posted above). He deals with all of the major companies and is one hell of a guy to work with. I got my LSx dry sump, oil pan, and pushrods from him also.

This is correct. These 3 companies supply 99% of all push rods to everyone, ie. comp cams, crane, CV products, etc. Tell your engine builder that you want the biggest and thickest push rods that will fit, this is vital in a solid roller application and can add power and reduce valve train problems. I've seen 5/8 X .125 before. My push rods are 1/2 X7/16 (tapered) X.125. The extra weight is not an issue on the cam side and the extra strength has far more benifits than negatives.

Looks like it will be .080 wall 3/8 with .210 radius ends. If CV stocks the size I need then I will go with them if not it would take them 2 weeks to make them so I will get the Smith Bros in that case.
