Lets build a 6.0!
Upgrading from an LS1 with 243 heads (with dual valve springs and titanium retainers) and an LS6 intake with longtubes.
I've already bought a 6.0 LQ4 longblock, Cloyes double adjustable timing chain, 4 new rotors, Wagoner Select ceramic pads all the way around, Mcleod adjustable master cylinder, Cartek stage 8 clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate, MS3 camshaft on a 112LSA.
Found a machine shop with a torque plate to bore out the block for $125. Plan on buying the L92 head/L76 intake setup along with a 4 inch stroker crank and 4.030 stroker pistons, and some 6.125 rods, all forged of course. Also seeking some hardened pushrods, aftermarket lifters, ARP hardware and aftermarket rocker arms.
Now here's where the LSx community comes in. Brand names, model numbers, piston dishes, piston cc, valve reliefs, rocker arm sizes, cam specifications, head milling.
I realize I have already bought a camshaft but since buying it, I have been told its going to be too small for my 408 setup (I figured a .605 intake .610 exhaust would have been fine, but I suppose not. So maybe we should spec a cam for my exact setup.
So I'm wanting everything to work in perfect harmony with each other and I dont mind replacing the cam if I need to. Now I dont have the cash to be going out and spending 2500 bucks on a set of heads but I could swing somethng like 1200 for a set that is recommended. I'm looking at pushing 550 RWH before the NOS. Anyhow, post back with your recommendations and I assure you, this entire build will be photographed and documented for all of you to see, and afterwards I'm headed to Oklahoma City to get it dyno tuned and let you see what we come up with!
for the pistons and head milling you need to know what compression you want to run. the cam needs to be custom specd, or at least have split duration. make sure with a big cam you get pistons with the l92 reliefs.
