I love this thread Althought I'm running a 383 LT1 I'm getting ready to start on a LSX build and I think my setup will be similar to this build as well.

But I'm not understanding as to why some have said run a bored LS2 block as opposed to a LSX block.

Sorry to interup the thread but I am really curious as to why...I planned on getting the LSX block and have researching the LSX tall block as well.

No other reason but to save weight. If weight is not a concern, there would be no reason NOT to run the LSX block. In my opinion all the benefits of the LSX block FAR outweigh the added 150lbs of weight which can be offset by using a tubular front end components (k-member/a-arms) and removing AC/AIR system. All I did was remove the AIR system, EGR, and getting a tubular K-member and I don't notice any difference in handling with the LSX block.

Thanks Haans between you, Punisher and LS6427 and the rst of you guru's I feel kind of secure in this build coming up in the fall I'm still toying with the idea of a F1 or F2 SC but if I do that of course I'll drop the cubes.

Ponch another option for more cubes is our 460 ci. (re-sleeved ls2). It will handle a 200 shot or the (Ls7) 457 for n/a only. You dont need to go with the added weight but it is less money for the LSX iron block vs aluminum. If your looking to run FI I'd go with the LSX 434.

On top of that, the LSX block has priority main oiling and other features that the aluminum blocks do not offer currently (6 bolts per cylinder). There was supposed to be a aluminum version of the LSX block, but given the current bankruptcy looming over GM, we won't be seeing it anytime soon.

I would say that the re-sleeved LS2 option is a great option if you do want to save the weight on the other hand.

Been cleaning the garage. 3 days.. But will give me a lot more room to work. Should finish up tomorrow morning. and then im gonna get my carpet in.

Decided to pull the trans am out to clean it up a little. 4 months or so of sitting, gettin pretty dusty.

Next on my list is all the panels. Im thinking about suede or leather inserts in the doors. and also im gonna dye everything black with SEM paint. I need some lower mileage seats and steering wheel

Well i got the wiring harnesses out today. so the engine bay is clear. Now i am gonna start cleaning it up. Taking out all the unnecessary brackets. When thats done ill weld to fill in the holes and grind them down.

Im working on a panel to fill the hole where the A/C was. and then ill be able to start filing and smoothing bondo.

The computer will be relocated inside. and the fuses are guna be moved also. Should look pretty clean when im done.

Let me know if you have other ideas for me.

Edit:I also will be running braided fuel lines and im redoing the brake lines so i can mount the LL and PV on the frame rail or something a little cleaner

oh crap, you're catching up to me, i need to get off my ***

It'll look great after everything is painted and filled in. sounds like we're doing pretty much the same stuff...mine's alrready painted up and now i'm trying to figure out where to hide my linelock and ABS delete pieces...

we used a couple tubes of Panel Bond to attach my AC delete panel and fill in the gap where the heater lines stick out. it sounded kinda ghetto at the time, but it looks really "factory" since it's the same stuff the rest of the car is held together with. sometimes i wished i would have welded it up and smoothed it down, but i kinda like how it looks now...food for thought.

Im trying... lol

I dont even have my shortblock, nor will i for WEEKS

I just felt like nothing was getting done, and i feel like a bump on a log waiting for my motor. So i decided i needed to be out in the garage more.

Anyway... I already have the panel tack welded into place. I wont have heater lines so dont have to worry about that. and yea i think its gonna turn out good smoothed out like i plan. But you can really see it very well with the engine in anyway. yea.
