is that a custom oil catch can or did you buy it from somewhere?
whats that thing on the back of the throttle body covering the manifold?
Did you have to cut the hole in the LS7 cover to fit the dipstick tube?

Thanks, thats exactly what I was going for.

its from saikou michi, its designed to mount on the head... but I didnt like that.

I forget where I got it, but its a Throttle Cable Bracket

Yes. I had to modify the covers for the throttle cable and the dipstick

Not a fun experience. Not sure of my plans.

Car sounds real nice tho, sorry to hear your tuning issues. Thats shitty considering all the work put in to get that beast together and now you cant find someone competent enough to make it run right...Agree with others, we are the great state known for domestic cars and "The big 3" but yet there arent any tuners around that work magic on um...and Livernois just seems like they enjoy raping people as everything they sell is overpriced like whoa (not saying their stuff isnt quality, parts look great and I hear good things about their service) but damn, for people on a budget, they def arent the place to go. That famous saying, gotta pay to play just keeps ringing in my ears...
Good luck getting her dialed in, keep us posted.

to me, raping means you overpay for what you get. if anything I think they were the best value with my car as it had already been to at least 8 shops in the area (you know, back when there were 8 or more shops in the area), some before I bought it, and a few after I bought it. All of them blamed something on the car, something I did, or something out of their control. Livernois, while yes, costing more than some of the other shops, cut through the BS and showed me what was wrong, which in my case was nothing other than the skill set of the other tuners before it. In less than 30 minutes there was a base cal in it that was worlds better than any dyno tune, and a few days later I had a car I loved to drive instead of hated to own. I used to be in the camp that thought a tune should never cost more than a certain amount or it was over priced, until i payed for multiple "reasonably priced" tunes that fixed nothing with the car or made it worse.

No worries. but I disagree, I really like how the FRCs add color to the otherwise monochromatic engine bay. they are not my first choice, but the alternative is not an optional right now, financially. When I can, I want to get Katechs CF valve covers and an LSXR, but until then... the FRCs stay.

Hey Trevor, your computer, can't be both good and bad, if your car feels like a beast, your ecm is good, the tune i don't know anything about, but perhaps a little more tuning will do, the bugs left from your first build experience, could be very extensive, and perhaps, not knowing, can exasperate the ones left to pick up the mess, so be patient with them, I'm sure they work very hard to get the car to where it is, I know by first hand experience, and perhaps the power you are making is nothing to be disappointed about, considering the heads and the cam combination you have, i say you are doing excellent, cheers and enjoy you monsta....

Cars been sitting, waiting for the new intake setup, which is fine, cause Ive been busy with school, 24credits this semester, and my free time has been spent finishing old projects and trying to get them sold, so that I can pay for school and keep the car.

but enough of my sob story, the "air bridge" will be here wednesday, so im hoping I have time to get it fit, and start the car again, and then Ill be able to start looking at whats wrong with it again... maybe get some miles on it this weekend. :woot:

Still busy with school, but I worked on it yesterday, got the computer mounted, Changed the oil and filter... some other little stuff. Trying to get it done for a car show last night. starts and runs really nice. but the trans wont go into gear. GRRR.

As far as the new intake. It looks awesome... and without and tuning the car was idling at 450RPM!!! smooth.

the Halltech intake puts the MAF over a foot from the TB... guess it cleared up the MAF reading at idle.

I started it, and remembered I forgot to adjust the throttle set screw, but it was fine, idling smooth at under 500RPM. It was awesome, I revved it a couple times and it didnt stall went right back to 450. HALLTECH MF107R FTW.

on to the clutch issue... the new clutch feel weird... as best as I can explain it, the pedal pressure is uneven.... but with the clutch to the floor(an unusually high force(much more than my SPEC 3)) I tried to put it in reverse and it wouldnt so(sometimes it did that to me before) so I pushed until I thought Id break the shifter and it wouldnt go... so I tried first(looking back probably a bad idea) nothing bad happened, but it did start creeping forward, like it was almost going into gear... guess I get to tear the ******* thing apart again. RAWR.

btw here the idle video. from my tbolt... bad sound quality. sorry

This is an awesome build. Just spent a whole day going through both your threads. I've been dying at the thought of building my own lsx. Just don't have the money that you or the other guys do. I'm glad you got it running after these years. The interior looks clean just like the engine bay. I hope you can get the tuning issue fixed and get out on the road and also the track. Keep us updates.

Thank you, Ive put every dime possible into getting this thing finished, it sure wasnt easy. and honestly looking back idk how I found the time to do all this. I cant seem to find an hour to work on it anymore.

I have a really good friend who has been spending his time working on my car, even when Im stuck inside doing homework.

I will definitely keep this updated.
