Question LQ4/9 Block casting numbers?

Can some one post a link or let me know the casting numbers on the Lq4/9 block for 2001+ years. On the hunt for a LQ4/9 and dont want to buy the short block with the longer rear flange if I get the Lq4. So I need a casting number(s) for the 2001+blocks...Thanks

I also know you can tell the difference in the heads, Aluminum VS iron. But I dont want some1 saying its a 2001+motor because it has the 317 heads. anyone can swap the heads and say its a 01+motor.

http://www.mortec.com/castnum.htm

I don't think the block casting number will be different,it is primarily the crank and heads.

will I need a way to fin out if im buying a 2001+ motor because i dont want to get stuck with a 2000 or older motor and have the longer flange..because some people can slap some 317heads and tell me its a 2001+ motor and I wont be able to tell if im getting the one with the longer flange(which i dont want) or not

u can tell just by looking at the rear main seal/cover. if the flange sticks out about 1/2 in, its a 2000.
i prefer the long flange crank engines, the offset is correct to use a sbc trans, such as th350/400 without spacer.

If it has a flywheel and there is a spacer, it is a newer style.

Check this link for a couple of pics compared to a LS1.
