Default MS3 Cam.. PTV issue?

Cam Specs: 237 242

I have MTI Stage IIE heads.. UNMILLED.. valve size: 2.02 1.57..

Will I have to cut the pistons?

As stated on the phone, it might clear for a bit, but it will not be comfortable (some people's idea of clearing is different than others)! Cut them for sure!

You shouldnt have a problem running the cam at all.. But over time you might want to think about it. There is a guy around here where I live that runs a Vengeance Vindicator 2 cam with stock pistons and rods. He's only getting about 7 thousands PTV, which isnt good but if your going to be driving the car ever single day unlike him then I would go ahead and get your pistons flycut.

The car is not daily driven. How would over time it get closer.. I thought once you turn the car over and it clears.. you should be good!

Its just the cam is already in there and ready to fire up.. just a lot of work taking the heads off now and cutting the pistons. Can you cut them while they are in the block? or do you have to take them out?

What are the specs on the Vindicator 2?

You shouldnt have any issues, its an off the shelf cam that is desinged to be used with stock internals

Stage 2 heads aren't stock.

Sorry, I meant stock pistons and rods...but then again if they are milled down I can see where it would be an issue.

Even without milling, the larger diameter valves diminishes the piston to valve clearance as well.

Its better to go ahead and fly cut or dished pistons if budget allows. I went ahead with a -4 cc piston to make the MS3 clear with my reworkerd heads-2.05 int/1.57 ex.

SURE DID!!!..LOL

ok...Finally everything is dynoed and tuned...

I will post the graph when I get to work tomorrow..

OLD:
465rwhp
425tq

New:
490rwhp
436tq

made 490 back to back to back runs... no lights, no knock..and last but not least, NO PISTON VALVE HITS!!

IF my valves were hitting the piston, no way in hell would it had made 490..
Thanks TX SPEED>

but, as things heat up, or if you float a valve, you're screwed. ptv clearance changes, gets tighter as the intake and exhaust (duh!!!) valve heat up. iirc, the valve you're going to have problems with is in fact the exhaust, which expands quite a bit as the engine is running. just hope to god you dont float it. fly cutting a piston is alot less expensive then a new set of heads, valves, push rods, and a new short block. my buddy did the same thing, just figured his new prc 215's and a 233/234(?) would be fine. well... they wernt. it was a 8000 dollar mistake.
