Default Anyone know where to find L92 or LS9 ZR1 heads

I found an ad in the for sale section about a guy or business that had a bunch of take off heads once in a while,he had L92's for around $500 and LS9 ZR1 heads for $650,anybody know who this was ? Are L92's not worth using cause of the thin or weak castings ? Im wanting some for a 6.0 shortblock, with a big solid roller and a 300 shot, will the regular L92's hold up ?

Durability depends on your level of boost and cam profile. IMO none of the LSA, LS9 or L92 heads easily fit up roller cam valve gear. Yes it can be done but there is considerable expense and your still left with a thin wall casting when you're done.

We have a pair of CNC ported LSA heads with LS9 titanium intake valves and inconel exhaust valves for sale. Shoot me a PM if you'd like more info or call us to discuss your options.

Just did a little reading. Don't mistake the LSA heads for the LS9 heads. They are the same castings but the LS9's have titanium valves with compatible valve seats and use 12mm head bolts. I read that the LSA's (CTSV) are set up for steel and use normal 11mm head bolts. They say the swirl wing is a loss for n/a applications as well. I assume the "fit up for roller cam valve gear" means adjustable rockers and heavy springs for solid roller cam.

Is there a difference in the casting of these three heads or is it just hardware differences like valve material?

When you go to solid roller stuff on a head such as the L92 you gotta keep the spring pocket as thick as possible. Longer valves will do the job but they wont be cheap. About $25 per valve.

The LSA's have a "wing" in the port which helps distribution of the pressurized incoming air/fuel.
This wing will be a restriction for a N/A build, but I suppose you could port it out.
The LSA's are rotocast and are made of a better A356-T6 alloy, so they will be stronger, but it has not been proven as to how much stronger.

I think they are about 1.5 lbs heavier than a regular LS1 head, but nobody has cut one up to verify deck thickness. Having a better material that is more dense will add strength even if they are not much thicker at the deck surface.
I can't imagine that GM would make a specific head for a supercharged application that is weaker than a regular LS head, so I am sure they will be good for a budget FI or nitrous build.
