Default Zr1 Pistons ???

Was wondering are zr1 pistons different from the ls3 pistons? And if so can zr1 pistons handle 25psi? Also has anyone bought zr1 pistons? Can you even buy them?

LS3 pistons are hypereutectic flat tops
LS9 pistons are forged and dished as shown in the picture above

To the best of my knowledge, nobody has put that much boost to an LS9 yet. So far about 18psi I think is the max.

I was just curios about them to see what kind of power they can handle.

We can get them yes. We are unsure at this time as to what the rod length is so that we can give you an accurate rod length and CH. I will get BOTH the LSA and LS9 pistons and rods in so that I can take a look and document them. The LS9 is a titanium, the LSA is supposed to be Powdered metal. We will take a look. Ill keep this thread updated.

IIRC they are 4032 alloy (from GM doc). So probably similar to any 4032 piston. Though it would be interesting to know how thick the crown is and whether the dome area profile is reflected on the backside, or they have made the centre really thick. Considering thats where long term detonation seems to drill holes.

No, LS7 rods are made by Mahle. LS9 rods are made by Pankl.
