hi, i am pretty much decided between the two cams. i am gonna run one of the two because it has a low lift (easy on the valve train). i am going to use my stock heads. they only have 40,000 miles on them. i will be getting springs and push-rods along with ls6 oil pump and ls2 timing chain. i could use some opinions from those of you who are running either cam. i was going to go with the asa, but when i called gm performance to order it he said it would have to much duration and that the hot-cam would be better.

Cam companies still make low lift cams. You dont have to choke yourself down to two choices because your main criteria is amount of lift.
All these are lower lift options(.520-.530)....So you have an actual selection.

i like the livernois 1C cam or the thunderracing LS2 silent thunder cam as far as a easy cam on the valvetrain and they all are hardly noticable ![Happy](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_stretch.gif)
but yea comp makes a few thats easy on the top end of the motor check them out also

its going in a 02 trans am ws6. the car has all the bolt-ons that can be done. i don't get to the track much so its more a street car. i loved the asa cam, but, the guy at gm performance scared me some, saying it has to much duration and it would be hard to get my car to idle. i listened to quite a few idle clips and the guys that were running the asa cams had their car idleing pretty good. the gm hot cam still sounds pretty good at idle and would still sound pretty mean on my car. thanks for the replies.

Lots of people are using the SD tune with the asa cam.It is somewhat hard to get tuned ,according to what i have read and have been told. I too am going to use the ASA cam and the CNC'ed LS6 heads with the ls6 intake will easily put down 425 to the rear and not have hardly anything in it.

The ASA cam is NOT hard to tune! Just take it to a professional. I would go with the ASA cam it sounds really wicked at idle. If you want a little more lift get the 1.8 Harland sharp rockers. I did it on my hotcam and cam only I put down 403hp on a mustang dyno. You should put down more. I also went with a melling instead, I left the hp spring in it and I love the instant 60 psi at idle and never moves lower than that. I just put an extra 1/2 quart of oil in it. You won't be disappointed.
