Default L92 Heads + 1/2 Studs

Can a stock L92 head be machined to accept 1/2 head studs? Seems that the washer area would need machined and the holes opened up! Has anyone done this?

Has no one done this to stock heads? Seems like an easy way to get a lot more clamping force!

the l92's are weak enough-machining the holes bigger just make them weaker.Clamping force is not the problem with the l92 casting blowing head gaskets, weaks castings is.

What would you say the max boost pressure a stock L92 head with a safe tune could handle? It may not be ideal, but I need to make these heads work for a while! (Anyone running 15psi or more?)

There is a guy running 20+psi on the Trailblazer SS forum with a TVS2300 and ported L92 heads with ARP studs.

Good to hear! Do these guys o-ring the block as well, or just rely on the head studs?

We just machined a set of LS3 heads for 1/2 studs, but only because we did the block and plan on stepping up to a better set of heads later down the road.
