Default Stroker Motor questions

Curious to see what people have spent to build a stroker motor

Please if you could let me know roughly the machine shop costs for building a stroker motor using a 6.0 block and the parts costs as well.

What I would like to do is build a 6.0 stroker motor. Im mostly interested in knowing what procedures had to be done and what to expect cost wise.
Im not really interested is assembly costs. I can assemble my own short block.

Do the blocks need to be clearanced for h beam rods?

What stroker kit combos are the best?

I'm in Cali and my costs break down like so:

Machine work:
Bore/hone-$150
Hot tank engine block/heads-$45
Line hone-$120
Install cam bearings-$30
Pin fit align-$50
Resize used con. rods-$80 (not needed for this build)*
Mag/check and polish crankshaft-$100
Surface/mill heads-$50
Valve grind (performance 3 angle)-$145 (not needed)*
Install valve guides (16)-$90 (not needed)*
Install valve seats-$120 (not needed)*
CNC port L92 heads (intake, exhaust, chambers)-$600

* new con. rods, new heads so this price for machining labor was not necessary

Parts costs:
Stroker 4340 crankshaft-$600 new
Connecting rods (h-beam, 6.125")-$400 new
Pistons-$650 new
6.0L engine block-$200 used
L92 heads-$400 bare/new
L92 head valves Manley stainless-$250 new
0.660 lift valve spring kit-$290 new
Rocker arms, bolts/screws, support rails-$280 new
GMPP L92 4-bbl intake manifold-$320 new

I had started from scratch...

Man im having a 408 built now. The roatating assembly cost me 2500 from callies. Machine work to the block around what the guy stated above.

Didn't have to clearance the block for the stroker crank...The machine shop I use recommend the rotating assembly be balanced for ANY high performance/high HP build. I forgot to add that in the cost...it cost me almost $250.

helicoil does a great post and breakdown of what he did...I think it's titled "from crate to dyno" or something like that. He doesn't include prices as he did the machine work himself. But he documents, explains and photographs what was done in a VERY detailed fashion, to his engine block and components, fresh out of the boxes. It's a helluva post! Do a search and check it out.

Were did everyone get there parts from? Did you get the callies kit direct or from a reseller?

I order a stroker kit 418ci for boost from texa-speed.com at a good deal i paid!! $2,990.59 with arp main studs and cometic head gaskets!!
