Help an Aussie 6l cam l92 heads

I know have a 233 intake lobe 114 ICL and run 30 deg of timing and 12.5:1 afr, WKMCD is right if the engine is losing torque with less then 25 deg timing. ie at 20-22 deg timing the engine is making max torque then any more timing(even if it doesnt knock) the engine loses torque it needs a later ICL or less comp. Now I have found as long as the timing is set right at peak torque with a very high dyn comp engine then low timing doesnt matter as peak combustion occurs at the right time still but if its over advanced it gets negative tq. Although in general the heads will love spark right till knock so say 32 deg it gets knock it will keep making power till it gets there this is a good sign.

The trick is maybe to look at the wider LSA options, as you are chasing top end power with high compression, it is highly advisable to maybe contact spinmonster at corvette forum he has some 116 LSA cams that are track and dyno proven on high comp LS3s, they are mid 230s intakes with over 600 lift with the high comp and wide lsa they work well considering they are on 114 ICL. They rev to the moon and it will also give you better clearance then a 108ICL cam.

The question I ask Paul is. Are you running the Higgins heads.. Do you have stainless valves? If so this is the issue go back to stock LS3 valves and problem solved mate...good luck
hey joel, ported by a guy in adelaide flow 370 cfm he does some pro stock gear.

Big cam is back in and with correct pushrod length i have 95 thou clearence on intake and exhaust this is using feeler gauges and check springs, 95 is a bit tight on exhaust. I've cut 80 thou on exhaust so maybe another 10 thou req or 20 to make it safe

Cam is 239/247 comp Lsr 114 lsa on 110ICL

I'm running 82 thou clearance on inlet and 95 thou on the exhaust spinning to 7300 rpm with no problems, i'm running 227/239 614/624 115 lsa 7.35 pushrods, stock heads.

Well after some head scratching etc waiting for 7.325 pushrods on backorder she's running untuned atm(just changed oil after 50kms running) she won't idle too happy on the old tune but drives quite nice(yep i'm suprised) ICL at 111 and comp 11.7

11.7:1 comp...and that big cam, this things gonna scream......

So what was the go with the ptv issue....Pushrods to long, What lifters you using were the valves holding open or something? Shorter pushrods fixed it....pushrod checker is a must...

I am going to a 40 thou gasket in mine and 12:1 comp soon(32 thou quench yikes!). Now I have a single plain I will need to recam. My new springs arrived the other day. New cam in mind nothing to out of ordinary just f'n huge thats all lol...Nos plate goes on then.. Go the stock stroke I say Paul.

Ordered pushrods from US with cam guessed lenght(big No NO, current lenght 7.425 minus 40thou 7.375 rods close i though) never measured the CC of heads before porting etc but ended up with 60cc chambers more like a 60>70 thou mill to me????? i've learnt now ended up with 7.325 rods and she runs quite as a mouse gets tuned fri arvo for a big cam untuned she drives not bad.

Tuned today pulled 358.6rwkw's or about 480hp. Very happy

Havent been on here for 4yrs, old girls has been running really well, went with E85 fuel and twin fuel pump and 65lb injectors.

Just noticed a tick in engine and a pull down has a failed lifter, not any major damage. Looking at morels
