Cool Which size cam to go with? Look inside

I am putting together a stock cube LS3 and going to be putting a set of ported TSP prc cnc ported LS3 heads on the motor. I have narrowed it down to 2 cams I want to go with and they are from EPS.

My car is not a track car by any means but it is not a DD either. I want an aggresive cam but not something too much on the wild side. It will see nitrous a good bit.

Here is the first cam:

Here is the bigger one:

I already talked to Geoff at EPS and he suggested the first one. I just wanted to see some opinions out there about these 2 cams.

I don't like either of them.

The second one is just entirely too big. (durations, overlap, ect...) for stock cubes.

Those cam sound real big for stock cubes. They seem big for a stroker.

Wow! Never expected these responses. I have always known Geoff to spec out some good cams. I think the second one might be too big also.

Why not just listen to Geoff? I have one of his cams in a 6.0L and it has great manners, no drive-ability issues and pulls great. No dyno or track numbers yet but it is a big improvement over the 222/238 I had in it last year. Still has great lowend power and up top it keeps pulling great, I shift at 6400 and it is very happy and has more to go.

PatrickG uses Geoff's proprietary lobes and he is also the brains behind the old TREX so he knows cams.

Your first sentence is what I already had in my mind and trust in his cam selection. Almost every cam he has spec'd has made power on this forum. Your cam in your sig is bigger than the one he recommended to me and you are making great power from what you are telling me. I would like to see a dyno graph and 1/4 mile slip anyway. I think I am going to give Geoff a call again

Geoff also spec'd the old TR224 back when he was at Thunder Racing.

The first cam DEFINITELY. Thats what I was going to run but Im sticking with VVT so I have a custom grind thats considerably smaller due to PTV issues. The first cam in your link is very close to what SpinMonster specs out over at Corvetteforum and LOTS of LS3 vettes run cams in that range on stock cubes and make insane power.

One bonus though is EPS lobes are an improvement over most other lobes unless your dealing with another shop of that caliber and cost wise the same or more. Just research some EPS lobe cams on here and check out the results for yourself.

EPS lobes ftmfw LOL

would be a nice hard hitter:

or a little more agressive:

Your first cam is not a bad choice IMO.
