Default help with DCR? and SCR

I have a cam I am running on my L92 418. Specs are 251/259 .660 .663 111LSA. I know this is a pretty large cam. I am not good at all with figuring DCR or anything like that. I was wondering how much compression I can run on 93 pump gas with that cam. Im about to get a set of heads ported and I need to know how much to mill the heads. What SCR should I shoot for?

That is a ridiculously large cam for L92 heads. I hope you are going to run a single plane intake because it's going to be a horrible mis-match for a factory intake or FAST. Way too much overlap for anything that's going to be on the street. Most of the successful street/strip L92 stroker motors run less than 20 degrees of overlap at .050". Yours has 33.

It's very difficult to calculate DCR without knowing the duration at .006" of the cam and the installed intake centerline. I can pretty much tell you that this particular cam is going to be so late closing its intake valve that you could run 12.0:1 SCR and only have DCR in the low 8s.

If this is going to be a strip only vehicle, why limit yourself to 93 octane?

thanks for your help. I got the cam dirt cheap and Im probably going to end up changing out the cam but I was just curious on what kind of power it is going to make really. I will probably get someone to custom spec me a cam for my setup. Its not going on a fbody or anything like that so Im open to running any type of intake. What is the best flowing intake for ported ls3 heads? They are most likely going to be TEA stage 2 port job. It will see the strip a few times but its going to be made more for just running on the street. As far as intake goes should I get a custom sheet metal one or do they have anything that works great off the shelf? About what size cam do you recommend for a 2500 pound vehicle that will not be daily driven but will see some street and alot of track time? And also I dont really know of any place close by that has race fuel here but there might be something close. I was hoping for over 550rwhp. I saw this cam make 558rwhp on another thread using PRC l92 ported heads with a stock intake but I might not see those results.

OK Tunink cool stuff let me know when you get it running. Do you have stock l92's. Mine are actually at TEA getting ported at the moment. They are actually the LS3's with the hollow stem valves and I have the comp springs that are good to .675 lift. What springs are you going to run? I got a good deal on a stock intake and fuel rails/injectors so I went ahead and I am going to run it for now and I will upgrade my Intake manifold when I get more cash in the next few months.

I am running the same springs. My L92's are ported very heavily. I will be running a Carb'd L92 Vic Jr and a Mighty Demon 750, for my set up.

I just noticed you are in Mobile only like an hour away. Thats cool. I will have to see what you are putting that motor in sometime. Is it an fbody or street vehicle? Are your heads milled? What kind of lifters are you running? I was curious what length pushrod you are running? I know mine might not be the same but just curious. I will get a pushrod checker to find out. Also what compression are you going to run if you dont mind me asking?

Heads are milled 30 thousandths. Lifters are LS7. 7.400 pushrod. 12:1 compression (unfortunately).

Well that was the plan originally, but since the compression was "miscalculated" by a certain someone, not me, I will most likely have to run a mix of race gas/93. Unless I can find some E85 around here.
