Default LY6 6.0l cam and combo questions

Ok so I just brought home a 20K mile LY6 6.0, for those that arent familiar with the rpo LY6, it has factory installed #823 L92 heads.
My questions are about the rpm limits of the factory bottom end(rods/bolts/pistons/crank), so that I can choose a cam. How high of rpms will theese thinks take before failure? I'd like to spin it to 7000ish.
I really dont want to pull the heads off, but if I do, I will do a quick port cleanup in the bowl area of both the intake and exhaust, and mill the heads.
Any cam recomendations? car is a 67 camaro, TKO 600 5 speed, 4.10 gears, I will use an edelbrock victor jr carb intake w/either a 750 or 850(I have both), msd 6012 to control the ignition, and a set of 1 7/8" headers.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Barrett

Man, I'd love to hear any responses to this also. I'm looking at getting the same engine and put it in a 1978 Z28 with a 5 or 6 speed tremec. But I am trying to keep the fuel injection and electronics on it.

I'm gearing up to put a Lq4 with L92 heads in my 1980 Z28, interested knowing what these bottom ends are good up to.

Anything I've read about these short blocks says they can handle just about any street car could throw at them. One article said 1000HP. I don't know if I'd believe that. But I'm sure a 600HP engine would stay together.

The rods and pistons are the weak parts. No way you will see an LQ4 rod live at 1000hp(maybe one pass). The cranks are living at 1,000hp for quite a few guys here. Not sure if you know but they are forged. If you are shooting for lower hp upgrade the rod bolts to arp along with the mains. Pick a good forged piston and call it a day.

the LY6 has forged rods and the hypereutectic pistons. The rods in the LY6 are the same as what's in the LS2/LQ9 ... I'd say spinning to 6500-7000 isn't a stretch. Just gotta watch that PTV clearance.

edit: oh, and are you keeping VVT? If not, why?

thanks for the info. I want to keep the vvt, but I am going to use a carb, so controlling it might be tough. I am researching alternative ways to controll it, but as of yet I havent figured it all out yet.
